Computer Engineering student Rebeca Abrentes is one of four women in her class of 60 students at Unifei Universidade Federal de Itajubá of Brazil.
Because of this, Abrentes' circle of friends is made up almost exclusively of what she calls, her 'bros.'
“I came up with the idea one week before the wedding. I was looking into some 'making of' pictures of brides with their gang of girls, all in robes, laughing, drinking champagne and all, and I got a bit sad because I wouldn’t be able to do anything like that," Abrentes told "Bored Panda."
Instead of letting it get to her, she took her idea and ran with it; She was getting her bridal photo-shoot one way or another.
With the help of some amazing guy friends and a spunky photographer named Fernando Duque, her dreams came to life. Making what seemed like a bitter moment so, so sweet.
“The photoshoot was super fun. Everyone was taking shots of cheap booze and sometimes we were laughing so much that we had to take some time to recover and go on with the photos," Abrentes said.
As someone who hasn't had many girl friends since middle school, I found much comedic comfort in this story. I often wonder what I will do when my special day comes. Who will my bridesmaids be? I couldn't quite tell you. However, either way, I know I'll be OK.
Abrantes took a situation I've tried my hardest to avoid thinking about, something I felt was just sad and a tad embarrassing, and turned it into beautiful memories with her guy-buds that put smiles on millions of viewers faces across the world.
I mean, for real, how cute are these pictures? You can tell every one of her smiles is 100 percent genuine; her guy buds at her side.
Her original Facebook post of the photoshoot were posted with, "Quando a noiva não tem migas, tem que se virar com os migos. Culpa da Engenharia!"
Which translates to, "When the bride doesn't have any girlfriends, it's time to call her bros. This is what happens to a girl in Computer Engineering!"
If you can take anything from Abrantes' viral post, it should be this: appreciate what you have and never take your true friendships for granted.
Abrantes didn't dwell on the fact that she was lacking in the girlfriends department. She celebrated the fact she had so many great guy pals. She found the joy, humor and beauty in the life she did have.
Whether its about friends, money or anything else, don't dwell. Celebrate!
