Boys and Barbours: The Perfect Match

30

You see them everywhere, from the streets of Manhattan to walking along the Seine in Paris and even in University of Alabama classrooms. I'm talking about Barbour jackets, the best article of clothing any man can own.

Many men don’t get past the price tag. “That’s too expensive,” or “It’s ridiculous to pay that much for a single jacket,” are common statements that can be heard in stores around the world. But Barbour is marketing its jackets now not so much as a purchase, but as an investment—and for good reason.

Besides its classic and stylish look, this jacket has proven itself to be both an investment and blessing to buyers. To start, you can take your Barbour anywhere. Whether you’re hunting in the woods or touring a European country, this jacket is good for any occasion. Also, add a dog to any Barbour jacket, and you’re sure to accomplish the all-American look.

A Barbour isn’t a piece that you have to pair with the most expensive slacks or shoes on the rack. It’s something to throw on with your old pair of boots and blue jeans to go sight-in your gun or tour downtown London. The great thing about this company is it has no specific audience. They sell to both men in the city and to men in the countryside. It’s the perfect on-the-go and casual jacket to have. It can serve any purpose to any man.

Another reason why a Barbour is such a great investment is that it will last a lifetime. Unfortunately, there isn’t a handy survey lurking around somewhere that gives the exact life expectancy, but there’s enough evidence to prove it. Made to sustain anything, Barbour’s reputation is one compared to companies like Land Rover.

When your Barbour is at the end of its rope, send it off to Barbour headquarters in North Shields, where it’ll receive The Treatment. This covers everything from re-proofing and re-waxing to repairing frayed collars and cuffs. The Treatment also covers repairing tears, even if it means inserting a new panel. This fact alone is a perfect selling point for any man across the globe.

Last, but certainly not least, the look of tradition that comes with the a Barbour is timeless. Quoting from their fall 1908 catalogue, “Wherever men need to be protected, Barbours will do it.” Over the last 120 years, Barbour has changed and adapted to every fashion trend. However, they have also been able to keep that original sense of taste that men, and now women, know and love.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
