How Taylor Swift Is Destroying America

I do my best to be an American patriot, and I am determined to return America to the greatness it once had. One element of patriotism, I believe, is to reveal the truth about any elements in the mainstream media that threaten the principles of this country. Friends, I am writing this article because I have come to the grave conclusion regarding the music of Taylor Swift. After extensive research, I have realized that Taylor Swift (contrary to her relatable yet mildly rebellious country/pop public persona) is a thug and a “gangsta” of the worst kind. She is indoctrinating our precious American youth with pernicious ideas to rebel and defy the qualities that elevate America. Swift’s whole discography contains disturbing similarities with the worst possible types of rap music. Let me clarify something. All rap is bad rap. All rap is concerned with poor morals, lawlessness, crime, and rebellion. But the similarities between her five album discography and the moral delinquency of rap music all boils down to one key theme that resonates here with America’s troubled youth: rebellion.

Ms. Swift’s “innocent” country-turned-pop music promotes rebellious attitude to her younger listeners. Take the song “22”, from her album 2012 "Red".In it, she proclaims that, “It feels like one of those nights/it feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters”. I am appalled at any parent who would let their children listen to such troublesome lyrics. Any artist who tells the youth that they should “dress up as hipsters” is telling our children that it is acceptable to become unfashionable, counterculture leeches. These types of people contribute nothing meaningful to America. She is telling them that it is okay to rebel against the status quo and express their “individuality”. This is seditious and wrong. Our youth need to fall in line with the natural, American way of doing things. I hope that everyone take caution and defend their young ones from these sort of messages.

Swift also continues her attack on American society by advocating for a sexual rebellion. In her song “22” she also says that we should, “fall in love with strangers”. Swift is promoting libertine sexual morals, in a manner that would rival songs such as “My Neck, My Back” by Khia or “Wait (The Whisper Song)” by the Ying Yang Twins.

Swift has sung about this loose, promiscuous lifestyle, as early as 2006 with her smash hit “Our Song”. She sings, “I was riding shotgun/With my hair undone/In the front seat of his car/He's got a one-hand feel/On the steering wheel/The other on my heart”.

Why is Swift preaching indecency to young women by declaring her hair is undone? Why is her young lover driving with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on her “heart”? Obviously “heart” is a euphemism for something much more lewd and an obvious reference to Bryson Tiller’s 2015 single “Don’t”. In it he sings, “Left hand is steering the other is gripping your thigh”. If you cannot see these obvious connections, you must have been living under a rock for the past decade.

By encouraging young people everywhere to have, inappropriate relationships, Taylor Swift is continuing her attack on America and her advocacy for rebellion.

Taylor Swift not only has disturbing trends in the themes of her music, but also who she has chosen to align herself with. In another of her hit singles, “Bad Blood”, Swift takes fire at a friend turned rival. The song echoes the diss track “No Vaseline” by Ice Cube, of the infamously rebellious rap group, N.W.A. The remix of “Bad Blood” is quite disturbing. The remix features Kendrick Lamar. Lamar is a well-known rabble rouser whose hateful, un-American lyrics focus on urban unrest and violence against police. Look up Geraldo Rivera’s commentary on Kendrick’s performance at the 2015 BET Awards. Really insightful analysis.

Swift has aligned herself with such ruffians more than once. On August 8, 2015 she performed “Trap Queen” with rapper Fetty Wap as part of her 1989 World Tour. Upon further investigation, I discovered that, “Trap Queen” is a song about illegally producing and selling cocaine. Swift not only is preaching rebellion to the youth through her music, but also has aligned herself with other musical artists who have the same goal of destroying the purity of America.

Swift is un-American. It is disgusting how much of America’s youth she has brainwashed. They have been tricked into following a false prophetess down a pathway that leads to lawlessness, anarchy, and annihilation. Even now, I believe that her conspiracy to destroy America and ruin the minds of our children runs far deeper than any one of us could imagine. With the constant imagery of the color red from “Bad Blood” to the album Red, I would not be surprised if the song is a coded anthem perhaps, with a whole album named Red, Swift is promoting Communist, leftist ideas. Red is the color of the, the USSR’s flag, Mao Zedong’s "Little Red Book" and Communism! Wake up, sheeple! This is not simply a coincidence! In conclusion, we must boycott Taylor Swift’s music. It is adding to the toxic mix of ideologies that is slowly poisoning America. I hope you all will stand with me as Americans and #BoycottSwift.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
