5 Books You HAVE To Read

Over my twenty years of being alive, you could say I've found some great books.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved reading. Any book, any topic, I love it. The idea of being able to escape to another world without leaving your house blows my mind. This love for books has made me who I am and has fueled my desire to write. I decided to make a list of my favorite books so others can enjoy these books as well!

The Selection Series (Kiera Cass)

I’ve probably read this series at least three times. It’s incredibly well-written, has a captivating love story, and has a strong female lead. That’s all a girl could really ask for in a book. But really, this series is my all-time favorite.

Anything John Green

I absolutely love John Green. His books are funny, relatable and just overall great. I particularly like An Abundance of Katherines.

Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen)

Okay, I know this is a classic and everyone has probably read it in English class, but DANG this is a good book. Once I got used to the older English vibe, it was actually pretty easy to read. I love the story, I love the concepts and the book is hilarious.

Edenbrooke (Julianne Donaldson)

Going with the Pride and Prejudice theme, Edenbrooke is based during the 1800s as well. It’s an easier read, and I could not put it down. From the very first page, I was hooked. I remember I was so sad when I finished it because I didn’t want it to be over.

Lord of the Flies (William Golding)

In high school, I took AP Literature and we read a bunch of books that honestly, I didn’t read (sorry not sorry). BUT, I did read a couple books, and one was Lord of the Flies. This book was captivating. It’s one of those things where it’s so weird and a bit disturbing, but you can’t look away. It has a great message, but is also such a great read.

Like I said, I will read any books I can get my hands on. This list though, is a list of books that I will re-read and never get tired of. Not everyone is like that, and I can respect that. Either way, sit back, relax and give one of these books a shot. You won’t regret it.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
