Ever since I was little, I have loved reading. I used to have a new book in my hand every week, but as I got older, I found less and less time for leisurely reading. Rest assured, I always have a new wish list of books in my notes. So with the holidays coming up, here's a list of the top four must-read books you should check out over your holiday break.
1. "The Book Thief"
This book tells the heart-warming and devastating story of Liesel Meminger, a nine-year-old girl growing up in Nazi Germany. When Liesel is given up by her mother and is adopted by complete strangers, she learns the power of words, and a whole new world opens up to her.
2. "The Perks of Being A Wallflower"
If you haven't read the book, you've probably heard of or seen the movie. This story focuses on Charlie, a socially-awkward introverted teenager entering high school for the first time. It isn't until Charlie meets two upperclassmen who help him to come out of his shell that he begins to live life to the fullest.
3. "Me Before You"
Now a major motion picture, "Me Before You" tells the story of Louisa Clarke, a 26-year-old woman who becomes the care-taker for Will Traynor, a once charismatic successful businessman who is now wheelchair-bound after a paralyzing motorcycle accident. As Lou makes it her mission to help Will find the motivation to live again, she learns about the person she is and the person she has yet to become.
4. "All The Bright Places"
This is a love story about a girl who "learns to live from a boy who intends to die." After overcoming their own tragedies, Violet Markey and Theodore Finch find each other when they need it the most. Together they learn new lessons about life and learn how to move on, all while falling for one another.
