Book Recommendations For Your Summer

Summer is a great time to get some reading done. The school year is sometimes too hectic to find time and read for pleasure. This summer I have read four books, simply because the amount of free time I have now is astounding. Throughout my life I have always had my head in a book. I guess that's why my friends are always approaching me for some light reading.

1. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

This book inspired one of the newest movies out right now, starring The Hunger Games' Sam Claflin. I loved this one, it took me only two days to read. Moyes does a great job of keeping the reading engaged with witty characters and a heart wrenching story.

2. The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith

I loved this one! Two teens get stuck in an elevator during a city wide blackout and an unlikely friendship is born. This was a very light read, but super cute story. I finished it in a night.

3. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

I read this Jennifer E. Smith novel last summer and loved it. Another very light read with captivating characters that you'll never want to stop reading about. Also, it includes New York and London as well as a very handsome love interest.

4. The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

Of course I had to squeeze Nick Sparks in here. The Last Song is wildly popular among my friends, so if you've read it I would suggest browsing Sparks' selection for your next read. Most of his novels are based during the summer and all of them are in North Carolina. It's definitely the perfect partner to that piña colada you plan on sipping this summer.

5. Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally

I am a huge fan of Miranda Kenneally's books, so choosing just one was tough. I decided to put her first novel of the Hundred Oaks series on here. All these books are feel good, romance stories for young adult readers. I love these books and each one I can finish in almost two days because of how engaged the characters keep me. If you read this, finish it, and like it, I suggest picking up one of the other books Kenneally has written.

6. The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Huntley Fitzpatrick is another great young adult writer. The Boy Most Likely To is the most recent novel of hers that I've read and I loved it. However, she has two novels including some of the same characters and both are great too.

While I have read all the novels above, I still have a few on my to read list such as:

Lying Out Loud by Kody Keplinger

We're All Mad Here by Leigh Raines

You Are Here by Jennifer E. Smith

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling

Jessie's Girl by Miranda Kenneally

The Decent Proposal by Kemper Donovan

Defending Taylor by Miranda Kenneally

... and more. If you want you should definitely pick one of these books up and get sucked into an alternate world where boys are super romantic and the girls are always treated it right. I joke, I joke, but seriously you should definitely do some light reading this summer. It will definitely be worth it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
