Between work, classes, and other chores, it can sometimes be difficult to make time to go to the gym. When we do go, we may not know what to do. We all know that going to the gym has its benefits, but the gym is not for everyone. Some find it either boring, confusing or intimidating. Also, it can get easy to fall into a routine at the gym if you stick to using only one machine, but there are many other options.

People have turned to Zumba and other dance related classes to have fun and to get their exercise. Recently, ballet has become a really popular alternative. Here are some of the benefits.

1. Long, lean muscles

Ballet dancer typically have long lean muscles and this mainly because they focus on stretching and strengthening their muscles. Every move in ballet functions to stretch your muscles, which requires you to engage all of your muscles in that area in order to keep the shape.

2. Posture

Ballet dancers (and dancer in general) are lauded for their incredible posture. Ballet makes you more conscious of your alignment and how to center yourself. Good posture is beneficial because it facilitates easier breathing and avoids back and neck pains.

3. Core strength

Ballet requires core strength. A strong core helps maintain the alignment, balance and also decreases the risk of injury.

4. Flexibility

Most of the barre exercises are designed to improve flexibility, which improves full range of motion and also increases blood flow to your muscles. Just makes sure to stretch before and after a work out!

5. Stress reliever

As impossible as it sounds, ballet is quite relaxing. I'm not going to lie and say that there aren't any stressful moments (especially when you cannot get a combination or your pirouette is not how you want it to be), but there is nothing as rewarding when it finally comes to fruition. Also, the music helps relieve stress!

So if you don't enjoy going to the gym, just stop by your local YMCA or dance studio and sign up for a class!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
