Blue And Gold: A Poem

While I initially intended to have this be a poem that any person identifying as INFJ (under the MBTI system) can relate to, I found that I put some of my own personal experience in it as well...

Blue And Gold: A Poem

Do not mistake my slowness to action

For incompetence, or lacking interest:

I'm waiting for the amount of traction

From a match that by fate's law is my best.

I did feel it once, still best to this day,

Though just one-sided: for me and not him;

Ever since then, I've been urging to say

The "I love you" I felt then, now since dim…

The promise I still held, the one we made –

"To always be friends, no matter what" then –

In my mind lingers, wishing that we stayed –

Stayed that way in blue and gold way back when…

Of course, fate never let us stay that way;

Fate never even gave me a true chance,

Not knowing for years, then so to that day…

Part of me still wants what slipped from my trance.

If we were more, if the time would so come,

I would hold my breath till his smiling face,

Close to mine, breathes life in me, and then some:

Those years accounted for, my love right in pace.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
