They say, "blood is thicker than water" but that's not always true. I'm lucky enough to have great siblings who always are there for each other and rarely ever get into arguments, even small ones. It's tough to have an extended family as close as mine because spending so much time together means not getting along sometimes.

My loyalty is to my parents and as the baby of the family, they like to pick on my mom a lot. Unfortunately, a few of my family members tried to close 2017 with some negative energy and have been feeding negative energy about my family for quite a while. Here are a few quotes about getting rid of negative energy as we go into 2018,

1. “People tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance. And while they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity, please remember that sometimes the diet we need to be on is a spiritual and emotional one. Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action.” - Steve Maraboli

2. “It would be easy to become a victim of our circumstances and continue feeling sad, scared or angry; or instead, we could choose to deal with injustice humanely and break the chains of negative thoughts and energies, and not let ourselves sink into it.” - Erin Gruwell

3. "“It is better to dwell on the beautiful things in life than the negative.” - Lailah Gifty Akita

4. “If you want to bring the world closer to peace, be a peacemaker by creating peace whenever you can. If you find yourself engaged in an argument that only stirs anger in the heart, quickly make peace and carry on.” - Suzy Kassem

5. “Having beef with someone is unnecessary and avoidable. Whatever the issue, if not positive, it is an opportunity to cut the excess fat from an unhealthy dietary network. Simply excuse yourself from the table of negativity and lean forward in peace.” - T. F. Hodge

6. “Some people are in such utter darkness that they will burn you just to see a light. Try not to take it personally.” - Kamand Kojouri

7. "Every morning you have two choices; radiate positive energy or radiate opposite to that. Choice is yours.” -Amit Ray

8. “Anything that drains your emotions or fills you with negativity is not good for your soul; avoid such people, thoughts, situations and so on. Surround yourself with positive people whose company gives you happiness and peace of mind.” - Lakita Teoita

9. “When the hate don't work , they start telling lies.” - Werley Nortreous

10. “No time for negativity or fake people.” - Moosa Rahat

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
