Blissfully Busy

You owe it to the people who don't have the opportunities you have to make the most of every chance you get.

Blissfully Busy

Idleness is pretty much the worst situation you can ever put yourself into. I learned this first hand. When left with so many empty hours, my mind was left to wander aimlessly, I lost a sense of purpose in my life and with it my identity. I am a do'er. I always have been and when a do'er stops moving, they lose their happy. So, when I finally realized what my problem was I dove head first into the deep end. That wasn't the easiest path to choose but I don't regret it. I floundered for a couple of weeks, overwhelmed by my new found responsibilities, but eventually I remembered how I used to live. I remembered the joy I found in marking things off my ever growing list.

Feeling productive is the best medicine. I firmly believe that you are your best doctor. No one else can see into your head the way you can. You know what makes you happy, you know what makes you sad, you know what makes you restless, anxious, doubtful, and fearful. You can conquer yourself, because who is better suited to the task? Take the reins of your life back from idleness. Because you have more to offer than just sitting on the couch watching the hours pass by. Your worth is far to great to be wasted on your self-induced unhappiness. So choose to make a change.

Listen to the people you love when they try to lift you up. They can see the beauty in you even when you cannot. It never fades but sometimes it is obscured from your vision. Sometimes you are covering your eyes from the person you can be, because your mind knows how hard it is going to be to get there, but your heart knows that is where you are meant to be. What are you waiting for? Live your life to the fullest. Make haste and take each moment as the cherished gift it should be. How can you mope when the world is so full of suffering and injustice? You have it so good, so don't waste your blessing.

Think of what someone who doesn't have the opportunities you have would do if given the chances you pass by every day. The world would be a different place. So disturb the universe. Do something positive every day. It is good for your soul. I promise, the moment your heart feels like you have accomplished something it will change your day. You were born to do something wonderful in your life, but you have to get up and take steps towards finding your true purpose. It's out there, just start looking. You'll find it!

So, go do what makes you happy. You deserve to do that one thing for yourself. You owe it to the people who don't have the opportunities you have to make the most of every chance you get. Do your best and you will be your best.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
