So I just got a new job at the mall at a department store. I've worked retail at other places but that was during the regular calendar year. This year will be my first year working Black Friday Weekend. Now I've seen people act every type of way but child, when Christmas season comes around people just lose it and forget they were raised with some common sense. I've seen people fight over toys, laptops, shoes, even a parking spot in front of the store.
So this is a PSA from a retail employee speaking on the behalf of every person who has had to work during Christmas season.. We work thirty, sometimes forty hours a week. Most of us are in school, have families at home we have to support. We have to commute through traffic every day. Missing holidays and special occasions to come here and work nine hours all through the week. The holiday season is busy and stressful, we understand. But it's also stressful and hetic for us who are behind the register. Sometimes we're doing three different jobs per person and we have to get everyone checked out as fast as possible.
Please be respectful of us and the other people around that are shopping. It will be easier and calmer for everybody if you please be patient and wait your turn or for our assitance. Say it with me, Patience. It's the holidays, be kind to one another.
