There are many times when people say things and all you want to do is tell them how you really feel. Then there are times when you should just stay quiet to keep from starting a war. Here are ten times when staying quiet might be the best thing to do.

  1. When you're in a sorority and people say you are paying for your friends. Let’s be honest, we’re paying for t-shirts and formals. Everything else is just a bonus.
  2. When people say you don’t know what you’re talking about when you clearly do. Sometimes it’s better to just agree to disagree.
  3. When people disagree with your political party, unless you really want to ruin your day the best thing to do is just nod your head and keep quiet.
  4. When people call you a smart ass, don't help their case and reply with something rude. Just bite your tongue.
  5. If something you want to say is going to hurt someones feelings, remember, there are some things people should know and then, there are things that are better off left unsaid.
  6. The subject of football or sports in general seems to just get everyones blood boiling. If you're talking to someone and they say your team sucks just tell them they suck and move on with your day.
  7. When people make “your mom” jokes. The fact that they even say that phrase makes you the more mature one so be proud of that.
  8. If someone tells you that your major will take you no where in life. Just laugh, but know that one day you'll most likely be more successful than them. Then we’ll see who’s laughing and driving the sports car.
  9. When people say you are trashy for having a tattoo. It was your choice, not theirs. Remind them not to judge someone until they have walked in their shoes.
  10. When rude people brag about themselves, instead of calling them all the names you want to just stay calm and know that they are actually just insecure.

The bottom line is always be the bigger person. It will make your life a whole lot easier.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
