There are lazy people, and people who keep busy. Then there are the people who are constantly crazy busy. I'm one of them.
If you're one like me, you like to keep busy and can't sit down for long. You feel the need to keep busy and make the most out of life. Keeping busy whether it be through work, extracurriculars, or academics is the lifestyle you know and love. However, there are times in your life where you feel exhausted or burned out, realizing you bit off more than you can chew.
This summer is how I feel. Before the start of summer I thought to myself, “oh, this summer will be nice! I'll have an internship and work. I won't have any summer classes. I can go to the gym and finally read those books I bought."
Boy was I wrong.
Between my work and internship schedules I have events to attend (ex. my brother's graduation party and graduation), an ethical leadership program to take online, taking 1-2 hours a day to go to the gym, planning days for my boyfriend and I to spend together, and all finding time to get done my daily chores, I definitely feel as though I took on more than I thought I could.
I'm sure you have your own unique situations in which you feel as though you overwhelmed yourself. I'm here to tell you that you'll be OK. I know it's rough and somedays you just want to give up. You're sleep deprived, your body may ache since you're constantly going, and you may just be yearning for a break. It can be hard but learn to find the joys in each day.
There is nothing wrong with living a crazy busy life. Becoming overwhelmed is actually good to an extent. It's those times where you learn how to balance priorities. You show others that you are capable of multitasking, and organizing. You have to keep moving in life if you want to achieve great success.
Remember, however, that life does move very quickly when we are busy. Take life day by day, and enjoy it. I don't enjoy those 10 hours shifts in the 85-degree weather, but I enjoy the shower and sunset I get at the end of the day.
If you are a person who takes on more than they can sometimes handle, just make sure you are taking on responsibilities, positions, etc that will help you in pursuing your goals.
“Someone once told me to not bite off more than you can chew. I said I'd rather choke on greatness than nibble on mediocracy." -Unknown
