What is the difference between an individual who identifies as bisexual or someone who identifies as a pansexual? Often in today's society, the two are frequently described as being two different labels meaning the exact same thing. However, the two labels have two titles for a specific reason. They mean two different things and relate to two different sexual orientations.
The most common ideology associated with individuals who identify themselves as bisexual is that these specific individuals can only date cisgender, or those who identify as the sex they were assigned to at birth, males and females. Furthermore, the sexual orientation term pansexual, people often think means the exact same thing when in actuality, it could not be farther from the truth.
Bisexuals are known for being attracted to both males and females, but this can sometimes include those individuals who also identify as male or female, those whose gender may not always match the biological sex they were born with. The sexual orientation known as pansexuality can include a wide range such as cisgender males, females, those who identify as such, transgender, agender, or any other sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Pansexuals are classified to be more open to possible romances, not wanting to limit their opportunities or chances of finding love where they otherwise might have least expected to find it.
However, of course, these sexual orientations can be different for each individual who relates to them. Some people have more narrowed specific interests, just like with everyone's personal sexual orientation. There is nothing wrong with these narrowed interests and does not mean those individuals are "not allowed" to identify as the label they do.
Every sexual orientation is different for every person and the only individual that it concerns as to how it differs is that one and only person, and/or their chosen partners.
Something to remember, however, is that you should never belittle anyone for whichever orientation they label themselves as, no matter if it is bisexual, pansexual or any of the other ones. To accuse the two labels as being the same is just as bad as ignoring their sexuality altogether. The two are very different, and as to ignore one label over the other is just inconsiderate and flat-out offensive.
So is accusing either sexual orientation as just wanting more attention or more options to "screw around with." These individuals did not choose to identify this way but are happy this way, and that is the only thing you should concern yourself with.
