I don't want this article to get political. I just have a few things to say that have been circling my mind. Women need birth control for multiple reasons, and nobody should be entitled to know said reasons. It's the woman's body and she should be able to take birth control for whatever reason she desires. Birth control is all about health benefits. Apart from preventing pregnancy, there are many reasons as to why women take it. I'll list just a few.

Reason 1: Regulate Periods

Not every woman has a regular period. Personally speaking, I didn't either until I started the pill. Some girls get their periods more than once a month, or at different times per month.

Reason 2: Prevention Of Ovarian Cyst

An ovarian cyst is a growth that contains fluid. They can occur during a woman's ovulation cycle. These cyst can be painful, grow larger, burst, and cause the women to require surgery.

Reason 3: Clearer Skin

Once again, personally speaking, I have never had that much of an issue with acne. I count myself lucky because most people do. A few of my friends who have had consistent issues with acne reported clearer skin after being put on birth control. Acne is caused by an imbalance in one's hormones. When a female starts birth control this can regulate the hormones and clear skin.

Reason 4: Help with cramps

Cramps can be terribly painful. I have found myself in a fetal position accompanied by my own screams because of them. I could also say the same for multiple women that I know. Birth Control prevents ovulation and while it does that it also prevent cramps.

Reason 5: Protection from Different Forms of Cancer

The oral contraceptive can help prevent ovarian and Colorectal cancer. There have been studies on this. They show that the risk of ovarian cancer is reduced within 3-6 months. The risk of Uterine cancer is reduced around one year after using the pill.

Reason 6: Increase Fertility

Obviously, some women take birth control to prevent pregnancy. However, that does not mean that they don't plan on having little ones in the future. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is one of the leading causes of infertility.

This disease is caused by a bacterial infection in the fallopian tubes and is accompanied severe pain. When you take the pill it thickens the cervical mucus. This mucus becomes a barrier that prevents the infectious bacteria from entering the cervix.

Reason 7: Less Menstrual Migraines

60% of women who suffer from migraines can trace them back to their menstrual cycle. It has been proven that 8-14% of women have migraines. Birth control can decrease the hormonal fluid that is linked to causing migraines.

Reason 8: Sex

Oh, sex the three letter word that nobody ever wants to discuss. It's not a secret that most women are on birth control because they are practicing safe sex, by preventing pregnancy. Now, I do not see the problem with this. Prevented pregnancy means fewer abortions and fewer children are conceived in families that cannot, or are not ready to take care of them.

Now, I just want to say that WOMEN WANT TO HAVE SEX. A woman having intercourse is no different than a man having intercourse. She is not a whore, skank, slut, tramp, or whatever name you roll off your tongue to call her. Women are humans.

They desire sex and deserve to have sex when they please. It's really not hard to understand. I honestly just don't see why a woman wanting to be pleasured and be pleasured safely is such an abstract concept to some people. I see no difference if a man wants to have sex and if a woman wants to have sex. If a woman wants to take birth control for the sole purpose of having safe sex then it is her call to do so.

Birth control is great. I stated only a few reasons has to why is is helpful and necessary. There are many more. If you don't believe me then you could look it up. A woman's body is just that - her own body. Nobody is entitled to tell her what she should do with it. If she wants to be introduced to any form of birth control then she has the right.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
