At least, that's how it has been for me.

It can be very discouraging as you realize that less and fewer people are reading your content. For Odyssey writers, it is especially noticeable with page views flashing in your face. Some of your older content may be getting a lot more views, and you sit down wondering why?

It stinks. It really does. You put all of this effort, you try to get people to read by constantly sharing, and maybe one out of ten of your articles might be a hit. By a hit, I mean like 1,000-2,000 views. At least, that's how it has been for me.

This isn't me trying to complain or attempting to get people to read my stuff. This is more of a note to self and a note to all writers!!!!

People get stuck on the idea, that no one is reading their pieces. This may influence you to change what you decide to write. The problem with this is that this will cause an eventual change for the worst.

You will no longer write for yourself because the views and popularity, start to count more than the love for your content. You have to keep yourself in the picture. It doesn't matter if there are 20 views or 200 views!

It is difficult to remember, but you write what your write...for a REASON. There is no need to change your style, what you are writing, and who you are! There just needs to be some type of balance. Yes, readers are highly important! BUT SO ARE YOU!

Your opinion matters more than anyone because, at the end of the day, you have to be happy with yourself and the work you've put into it.

The biggest mistake is writing for only an audience and not writing for yourself. The last time I checked, I thought you wrote because you loved it or it was just right for you! Right?

Right.

So don't lose sight of that.

Keep writing. Stay hopeful. And eventually, you will be noticed even if it's only one person. The important thing is that you will have made some type of impression. And isn't that the point?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
