Every summer, CBS airs a reality/drama/competition TV show called Big Brother. On the show, there are 16 contestants chosen from around the United States from all different backgrounds. The contestants live in a house together without any contact to the outside world for a whole summer, with cameras following their every move 24/7. Each week, the contestants compete in various contests and vote to evict a house guest from the Big Brother house. The last house guest standing, wins $500,000. Within the show, there are also other twists and contests and the drama just starts to unfold as alliances are created and broken, and people reveal their true colors.

The show is in its 18th season, and I just started watching during season 16 when Ariana Grande's brother Frankie was a contestant. I have been hooked ever since! It is my favorite part of the summer.

Season 18 premiered last week on June 22, so there is still time to jump in! If you need more reasons to watch, here a few reasons why this season is going to be AMAZING!

Newbies vs. Vets. One of the twists for this season was including four former Big Brother house guests in the mix. The veterans this season are Nicole from season 16, James and Da'Vonne from season 17, and Frank from season 14. The other twelve house guests are new to the show, and some of them are not happy about the returning house guests. This has caused some serious drama already, and has clearly divided the house and put the veterans at a disadvantage.

Team Players. On the previous seasons I have seen, contestants always compete individually in competitions. This season, the contestants must play on teams. Each of the veterans became a team captain and had to choose their teammates before the first competition. During this first episode, the teams played a series of competitions, ending with one losing team standing. The players on the losing team then had to compete against each other, which led to the losing player to be evicted from the house. I have never seen an eviction happen so soon, and I am curious to see how the competitions will continue throughout this season.

HOH. Each week, there is a "Head of Household" or HOH as the house guests say. This person gets to nominate two houseguests for eviction. It can be tough to be the HOH as it gets a lot of blood on your hands, so being the first HOH of the summer can be a tough spot to be in.

BB Roadkill. So this season, another twist is the "BB Roadkill" competition. Each week, the contestants compete in this competition individually and the winner of the competition is revealed anonymously. This player gets to nominate a third houseguest for eviction. What better twist could there be?! And it could even be their own teammate!

Family Affairs. For anyone who has watched the show before, we have some siblings of past houseguests on the show this season! Paulie is the brother of Cody from season 16 and Tiffany is the sister of Vanessa from season 17. This could be detrimental for these players, as Cody and Vanessa both made it very far in the competition, and played an incredible game.

Punishments and Prizes. Other twists that happen along the way are the various prizes and punishments given out to the winners and losers of competitions. One of the worst punishments is being a "Have Not" for a week. The have nots have to sleep in the most uncomfortable room in the house, and eat "slop" for a whole week. Other punishments include being forced to wear weird costumes or do a physical challenge. On the other hand, contestants always have a chance to win cash prizes or immunity from eviction from winning competitions!

Alliances, show-mances, and rivalries. Every season, there are power alliances that are formed that rule the house. There are also intense rivalries between players that develop that can cause some serious drama. And there is always the occasional "show-mance", essentially a relationship between two contestants. Show-mances can end well or end very badly, as I have seen in previous seasons.

So those are some of the great things happening on Big Brother this season! The show airs on Sundays and Wednesdays at 8pm, and Thursdays at 9pm, so if you need a show to watch, this is it! Hope everyone enjoys their summer and remember: Big Brother is always watching.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
