Unless you live under a rock, you've heard about J. Bieb's comeback of the century. It started out so sudden. First my roommate playing "Where are U Now" on the radio in the car, then finding myself humming "What Do You Mean?" on an occasional basis. It wasn't until I noticed my boyfriend (my VERY anti-Bieber boyfriend) VOLUNTARILY begin typing "Sorry" into the Spotify search bar last week that I knew for sure. Bieber fever is an epidemic, and it leaves no one behind.
This isn't the first time this has happened. Bieber fever HAS hit us before.
Rewind to 2010:
6 years, and 342,316,308 views ago, Bieber was merely a blip on our radar. However, "One Time" was not just a one time thing. Between 2009 and 2011, Justin released seven Top-10 hits and three albums (which doesn't seem like a lot, but you try doing that). What really won over our hearts back in 2010 was that smile...
And that hair that you suddenly saw on every adolescent male in the U.S. (and of course, in his native country, Canada).
But unfortunately, all stars burn out and we didn't hear from Justin much after his Christmas hit, Mistletoe (except for Boyfriend, but that was just a small flicker of light in a dark tunnel). What was Justin up to between 2011 and 2015?
Unfortunately, he found himself into some minor trouble. First, he was arrested in Miami on suspicion of driving under the influence and for drag racing in a residential neighborhood (oops). He was thankfully released on a $2,400 bond and we never heard much after that. So what's done is done and, I mean, even his mug shot was cute:
U smile Justin, U just keep on smiling.
He also found himself in a toxic relationship with Selena. This on and off fling ended with a broken-hearted Biebs and Selena in rehab (yikes)! This may have seemed like just another bump in the road, but what Justin didn't know, was this was exactly what he (and the whole world) wanted. It may just have been the inspiration he needed for his next album.
If you haven't listened to "Purpose" (Deluxe edition, obviously), then you must drop what you're doing right now and please listen to it. If you're short on time, I'll direct you to the good ones:
LOL, JK, THEY'RE ALL AMAZING, CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULE.
My roommate, a newborn Belieber, has listened to nothing but his new album (and the occasional classic) for about two weeks straight. She also just bought tickets to his May 13 concert in Montreal (you know where to find me that day). When I asked her about this new Bieber sensation, she responded with this wonderful fun fact:
Did you know Justin made a new music video for EACH song on his new album?
What a guy, so dedicated. Unfortunately, his videos contain more girls dancing than they do Justin. But creativity goes a long way, because Purpose is predicted to sell almost 3 times as much as his last album, Believe. I do BELIEVE that will most likely happen, and according to the stats, it is also predicted to bypass all of his other previous albums! Way to go, Justin!
So what does this mean for the new-and-improved Justin Bieber? And is there any comment from Selly G?
Too bad for all the girls out there who just came down with the fever, because Justin and Selena are back together. Just the other night, he serenaded Selena in front of other bar-goers at the Montage Beverly Hills Hotel. He sang her a beautiful and swoon-worthy rendition of "My Girl" and even the poor-quality Instagram video was enough to make me cry. Way to go Justin, this really is your month.
Only negative thing I have to say is: PLEASE go back to like the 2010 Justin hair. PLZ AND THNX!!!
