Who says the Bible cannot teach you anything?

Biblical Stories I Love And Why
hope for all people

Growing up as children we all heard stories of many things that captured our attention. From girls that were locked in towers with hair that could touch the ground to prince's that needed true love, or true love's kiss, to break their spell. Whatever the story was that we were once told as children, they always resonated with us in some type of way. For me, most of the stories that resonated with me were biblical. I looked at people in the Bible as inspirational and strong. Many of the people in the stories that I have read involved people who were strong in faith and were very courageous. The three books in the Bible that I am going to be talking about are Job, Jeremiah, and Esther. I chose these three books because they show something about God but can also teach you something about yourself. So with out further delay, here are the reasons why I love these three books.

I will firstly start off with the book of Job. Job is a wealthy man who is very faithful to God. He is so faithful that one day the devil and God are talking and the Devil said that if God thought that Job was so faithful, then he (God) should allow him (Satan) to test him (Job), in which God agrees. By the end of the tests Job loses everything that he had and ends up with a skin disease, but still praises God. When God is shown how faithful Job really is, God returned everything that the enemy took from him even more abundantly and even increases the longevity of his life. I like this book because it shows us that God has control over every aspect of our life, and when the enemy is attacking us it is not meant to hurt us but it is meant for us to prove our faith. It also shows that God takes care of his people and anything that the enemy takes from us, God returns through even more ways than we can ask or think of.

Jeremiah , a prophet of the God, went through many years of oppression because he was prophesying to the Jews in Jerusalem and Judah about God's punishment for them. The people were worshiping idols, following pagan gods, and just all around not being followers of God. Jeremiah was trying to tell them that if they did not turn from their ways, God would allow Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to conquer their land and enslave them. Jeremiah did this for many years, and instead of the Jews listening to him they persecuted him, embarrassed him, and lied to him. Jeremiah is another book that I really love because it shows you that even though you may go through persecution God will take care of you and see you through. Jeremiah went through many years of persecution for doing the Lord's work. Through Jeremiah you can see that although having spiritual gifts can be hard, God always helps his people through it. In Jeremiah we also see how much God cares for us because he says so in Jeremiah 29:11.

Lastly, my absolute favorite book of all time is Esther. Esther, or Hadassah, was a Jewish girl who had to make one of the biggest decisions of her life to save her people. There was a plot to attack her people and she knew what she had to do--she had to make the choice to trust the Lord and to go before her husband who was the king of Persia, which could have cost her her life, to save her people. I really love Esther because God shows us that he is faithful to his people all the time. Esther also shows us that in many situations we need to be brave, strong and faithful. We also need to trust in God and know that he will see us through.

Though many people have different interpretation of the Bible, one thing we all can see is that once you are faithful to God, he is faithful to you. He will also never forsake us, and he will always be there for us.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
