Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a worrier. I overthink, overanalyze and over-stress about everything, which is a huge problem not only for my mental health, but for my spirituality too. The Bible tells us over and over to not worry, but I really didn't grasp the concept until this past winter break when I noticed a huge part of my worrisome attitude is from my impatience for results. I pray and give my worries to God, but if things aren't immediately fixed I become very upset.
These are a few of the Bible verses I found when I was going through a big struggle, and they made all the difference in my process of letting go and letting God work.
1. Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
2. Psalm 37:3-6 Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
3. Ecclesiastes 8:6-7 For there is a time and a way for everything, although man's trouble lies heavy on him. For he does not know what is to be, for who can tell him how it will be?
4. Matthew 6:25-26 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
5. Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
6. Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
7. Micah 7:7 But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
8. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
9. Lamentations 3:25-26 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
10. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.
11. Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
12. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
13. John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
14. Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
