21 Things You Should Leave In 2017 So You Can Take Better Care Of Yourself In 2018

We are already a week into the new year already. Many of us have probably broken some of the New Year's resolutions we made. And, props to the ones who are still going through with their resolutions. It's not always easy to follow through with them, but it doesn't mean you should just give up right away. Just because it's the beginning of the year, it doesn't mean it's the only time you can start doing things.

This year, we are learning to NOT do certain things for self-growth!

1. Having no faith in yourself

If YOU can't believe in yourself, who else will?

2. Comparing yourself to others

Embrace your different yet unique traits.

3. Having a negative mindset

We're all about thinking positively now!

4. Tolerating toxic people

Make no room for them; you don't need them.

5. Caring about what everyone thinks

You can't please every single person and you shouldn't try.

6. Letting people underestimate you

Show them that you are more than they make you out to be.

7. Settling for less than you deserve

Know your worth.

8. Holding grudges

It will just screw you up more.

9. Overthinking and overanalyzing everything

Don't cause more stress for yourself.

10. Assuming the worst in everyone and everything

Find out the truth instead.

11. Setting low standards, goals, and expectations

You know what rhymes with low? NO, so no more of any of these.

12. Doing bare minimum work

Produce the kind of work that you would actually be proud of.

13. Complaining too much

Don't overdo it!

14. Always putting others' happiness before yours

Don't forget about yourself.

15. Letting your fear hold you back

Stop being so afraid and let yourself experience new things.

16. Not knowing your priorities

Get your priorities straight!

17. Waiting until the last minute to do things

No more procrastination to avoid a stressful life.

18. Believing you're as bad as some people think

Don't let them convince you that you're not good.

19. Surrounding yourself with the wrong crowd

You become who you surround yourself.

20. Wasting your time trying to get even with certain people

It's better to move and be at peace.

21. Putting yourself down

Self-love is everything, so don't deprive yourself of it.

In 2018, we are taking better care of ourselves. No more settling for less and no more holding onto toxic people. We only want what's the best for us now. We need friends who will encourage us and help us grow. We are getting our priorities straight to achieve our goals sooner. Most importantly, we are no longer thinking negatively; we're about being positive and spreading that positivity.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
