Throughout our lives, all of us will have some time to spend with just ourselves. Some people may have alone time more than others, but we will all face it. Time alone with yourself can be defined in many ways. Your parents may have left the house, your college roommate may be out for the night, you might just be living alone, etc. There's endless situations. Sometimes we tend to let these lonely times get to us in not good ways. I hope to give you ideas that will turn your alone time into something a little less lonely.
First things first, I know not everyone lives near a beach, but if you do, take advantage! If you are able to get yourself there in any sort of way, it could be the most amazing experience. Being alone at the beach with your thoughts is something almost euphoric. If just walking along the beach isn't your cup of tea, then I have just the perfect thing for you. If you have a speaker, bring it. Also bring either a towel or chair to sit or lay on. If there are any empty areas on the beach with little people around, walk to one of them, whichever spot is perfect to you, and plop yourself down. Now, put on a playlist of your absolute favorite songs and turn the music up to as loud as you want. Lay back, and enjoy your favorite songs with the sounds of the ocean and beach. This is one of the most relaxing things you could do. With nobody else there, you are able to listen to exactly what you want and you don't need to make any sort of conversation. Now, since not everyone lives near a beach, there is still plenty of amazing things to do.
If you have your typical living space, dorm, room, house, apartment, etc. alone for the day or night, or longer, there are great ways to take advantage of that. Yes, you could just read or watch TV, but what's so fun about that? (side note: I love reading and if you love reading keep up the good work, it's good for the soul.) If you have any sort of fun colorful lights, string lights, LED lights, or whatever it may be, turn those on! Turn off any sort of big light source and just let the little lights illuminate the room. Try your best to make the room perfect. Once again, if you have any sort of speaker, or just your phone speaker, put on your favorite playlist. Now depending on what you want to do next will determine the volume of your music. One thing you can do is treat yourself. Put on a facemask of your choosing, put the music on a subtle volume, get out your favorite mug, and make a cup of whatever you'd like! So if relaxing with a facemask isn't something you would like to do, then skip all that! Turn the music all the way up and dance! At first it may be weird, but once you start going you won't want to stop!
If you don't want to be all cooped up in the house just dancing to music and you don't have access to a beach, just take a walk! Yes, that is very cliche to say, but have you ever really done that? If you put some headphones in and just go out and walk around, it could be the best thing for you. I know not everyone likes walking alone outside, but if you feel like you could, then do it! With music added to the scenery of your walk, it almost feels like you're in a different world. You can hear nothing but the music and it almost makes you look at the world differently. Alone time in general makes you look at the world differently, but that isn't always a bad thing. It's good for you to have fun with yourself as much as you can. Don't look at time alone as a bad thing, think of it as a time to really be your true self without any judgement.
