I am not a licensed therapist, this article is only based on my opinion and experiences with mental health. If you are experiencing any mental health problems please seek professional medical advice.
Without beating around the bush everyone at this point in time is dealing with extreme stress, and with the weight of a pandemic piling on top it can make it even more difficult to cope with mental health issues. Burnout becomes an even bigger issue, and with depression hitting a million times harder it is noticeable that a lot of us are not healing ourselves in the most efficient way possible. Not only that, but we are also putting our mental health on the back burner. So, how do we combat our mental health and try to get back on track, especially while in the middle of a pandemic?
1. SCHEDULE ALONE TIMECannot stress this enough, you need to have alone time. Being around everyone all the time can actually hurt your mental health even more, especially if you do not take the moment and just breathe. During the time by yourself you can do anything you want. Want to go on a hike? Go ahead. Want to read a book from front to back? Then brew yourself a mug of hot tea or coffee and sink into your couch with that book.
2. SET BOUNDARIES
If we go through life with every aspect of ourselves out in the open we are allowing chaotic and toxic characters inside without even realizing it, and when they see how vulnerable we are then end up taking advantage of the state we are in. In order to stop those kinds of characters we must set boundaries and protect ourselves, especially when it comes to healing our mental state.
3. THERAPY IS A FRIEND
Do not be afraid to go see a therapist, because they can actually help us understand what is happening inside our minds, unravel the chaotic strands in a way that we cannot do ourselves. Even though there is still some unfortunate stigma with therapy it can be beneficial to you and your health.
