8 Must-Do Activities Now That Summer Is Right Around The Corner

Remember all those times in the semester when the idea of something fun popped up into your head? It's time to get out those ideas because NOW is when we can do them! If you're reading this list as you're preparing for finals, try using the prospect of these fun things to fuel you through.

1. Start/continue a hobby

Remember your weird obsession with underwater basket weaving or your desire to learn the guitar or crochet? It's time to make it come to life!

2. Have a spa day for those tense muscles

Throughout the school year, it's very common for students to have tense muscles and/or headaches. To prevent them from carrying over in the summer, try getting a massage or having a personal spa day. Enter: face masks, manicures, essential oils, and friends.

3. Devote time to relationships

There are always those few friends that go to different colleges or have completely different schedules. Messages and conversations with them can be notably few and far between during the year, so summer is the time to properly catch up. Do your favorite things together, or choose something from this list!

4. Visit local shops

It's easy to ditch local businesses when the mall is staring you in the face. Take at least a day to explore the different shops in your nearest downtown area - you might be surprised at what you'll find! Typical stores include cafes that are not Starbucks (but as good and even better), toy stores, ice cream parlors, and more.

5. ROAD TRIP!!!!

Get out of the house, you! Explore around you by visiting a museum, park, zoo, landmark, store, beach - literally anything - that's a good distance away. Get your playlist ready and get ready to roll out with the windows down.

6. Go outside every day (or most days)

Whether it's for a jog, a tennis match at the park (a great way to meet people and get in some activity), or anything else, getting outside will make you feel like you've really made the most of your summer.

7. Go to the beach, my friend

At least once.

8. Clean out your room (heh)

When it's way too hot, humid, or rainy.

All in all, use this summer in the best possible way! Relax, be calmly productive, and just have a good time. We won't have these breaks forever...

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
