10 Ways To Make This Semester Your Best One Yet

Have specific goals for this semester? Just want to make this semester even better than your last. I relate. Regardless of life getting in the way of our goals, we can all try our best and put our best effort forward to do better and be the best possible person each semester.

1. Sign up for classes you will enjoy and do well in

Your classes can really make or break your college semester. Taking too many credits and overloading your schedule can really stress you out and drain you mentally, especially if you do not enjoy them. When scheduling for the semester, take time to read through rate my professor and the syllabus to see if you would truly like the class. At the beginning of the semester, you have time to drop and add classes, if you are not enjoying the class after two classes, drop the class and try to look for a class you would enjoy. This is best for your future and mental health.

2. Join extracurriculars that make you happy

At the start of the semester, attend your college's club fair or join a club sports team. Joining extracurricular clubs or sports looks great on your resume and shows that you like to be involved on your campus. Attending meetings monthly or weekly allows you to be a part of something not involving school. You can also meet some amazing people that can become your best friends.

3. Reserve time, every day, for yourself

Take time out of your busy schedule to chill out. Relax and binge part your favorite Netflix show or listen to music. Take some time to relax instead of getting too caught up in your homework and studies.

4. Hydrate

Hydrate or diedrate. Water is so important for your body and drinking enjoy everyday helps you internally and externally.

5. Take some time to reflect on your progress towards your goals

Each semester, make a list of goals and try to attain these goals by the end of the semester. Make sure you keep track of your progress towards these goals in increments to prove to yourself that you are working and moving towards your goals.

6. Schedule your day in a calendar or planner

Planning your day and what you have to do every day really keeps you on track with your life. Google calendar is really useful and has an app to notify you of events in your day.

7. Keep up with your work

Everyone says this, but try your best not to procrastinate. Keep up with your assigned readings and homework problems. You will thank yourself later during exam season.

8. Make time for your friends

College is a time for focusing on your academics, but make time to see your friends each week. Go out one day or plan to study with your friends to catch up on life.

9. Exercise

Exercising will help keep your head clear. You accomplish a small goal and keep progressing forward in your health. Even if you only work out a few times a week, it will help you physically and mentally.

10.  Try to eat healthier

Try to make healthy food choices. Yes clubs will offer you free pizza and you should always say yes to free pizza, but try to eat smarter and pick better food choices to help you. Eating healthy makes you feel good about yourself cause after eating more than two cookies, no one really feels good about themselves.

Hopefully, you will make this semester your best semester yet!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
