Some people love it, some people hate it.
The fighting, the cursing, the scandalous hookups, and the even better makeups- I’m talking about good ole’ reality television. Reality television has become an American phenomenon over the past decade and managed to make its way onto almost every household TV.
Reality television has taken the entertainment industry by storm and become so big that those “famous for nothing” celebrities just keep raking it in with clothing lines, makeup lines, video games, spin-off shows- you name it.
People love to hate, but as long as our society keeps up the demand for these shows, they’ll be sticking around.
And I for one, am I proud supporter of this movement. While I admit that certain characters on these shows make my skin crawl and it’s impossible to watch particular episodes without knowing it’s scripted- watching trashy reality television is one of my favorite past times.
Bring out the popcorn and ear plugs, here are the top 10 binge-worthy reality television shows of all time:
1. Keeping Up With The Kardashians
The Kardashians went from a relatively below-the-radar family to Hollywood’s most powerful. Going on their 14th season, the Kardashians have defied all expectations and continue to keep us on our toes. They practically redefined reality television.
Love em or hate em, they managed to change the entertainment industry one episode at a time.
2. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
By far my favorite of the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise. Each woman has an absurd amount of money, mansions big enough to house an army, and a closet filled with clothes as expensive as all four years of my college tuition.
From their lavish vacations to beautiful families, you can’t help but want to be them when you grow up.
3. The Hills
A spin-off of MTV’s ‘Laguna Beach’, The Hills is a reality television classic. Creating stars like Kristin Cavallari (now married to NFL quarterback Jay Cutler) and everyone’s favorite Lauren Conrad, we have lots to thank it for. LC is will forever be my girl crush.
4. Below Deck
These staff members make up the crew of a luxurious yacht, traveling to exotic locations with even more exotic guests. Throw any group of people on a boat for extended periods of time and you’re bound to have drama.
5. Vanderpump Rules
A spin-off from the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’, Vanderpump Rules takes us into the lives of the staff at one of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants, Sur. This show emphasizes the importance of separating work and play.
6. The Bachelor/Bachelorette
25 people competing for the love or “rose” of another is bound to evoke drama. Through the dates and elimination ceremonies, you can’t help but not watch. Yet somehow almost every relationship to come out of the show has ended in a breakup, imagine that.
7. The Bad Girl’s Club
One of those shows that you’d automatically change the channel to when your parent or any younger sibling entered the room. You really can’t make the people or situations in this
8. The Real Housewives of New Jersey
The infamous table flip. Teresa Giudice could have her own show and we’d all watch. What’s better than watching middle-aged housewives bicker over their stripper pasts?9. Jersey Shore
This show introduced us to fake tanning and a plethora of explicit activities/words. Snookie was like the children you see running and screaming all over the mall, most definitely
10. America's Next Top Model
You can thank this show for my countless “high fashion” photo shoots with friends in my designer Limited Too and Abercrombie fits.
Put on your jammies and get comfy, time for a reality television marathon.
