So you're sitting in your dorm room, on your bed, wondering why it's so high off the ground that you need a step stool to get down from it (to store all your crap, of course!). When I have to go to the bathroom or get water in the middle of the night, let's just say I don't always remember this aspect...
But when you're home...oh, home! The joys of confrontation with family and regular ol' chores. *sighs in relief*
But really, home is where it's at. At home, there's plenty of food because odds are, if you have a parent(s) like mine, they'll ask you what you want while they're at the grocery store the day or two before you arrive home for a break or a long weekend. But before I get too far into this, here's a list of some of the many reasons that keep me coming home...
1. Food
From the moment I walk in the front door, there's free food that actually tastes like food. Here's a recent pic of me experiencing this phenomenon:
2. No roommate
My roommate is a blast and all, but I miss having my own room more than anything. We have a huge room (it's just one roommate and me) so we dance and eat tons of snacks and hang out in there, but if I'm feeling down for no reason as girls do, or need to focus but don't feel like walking to the library or whatever it may be, my own room would be much appreciated.
3. Pets
Even though my dog sucks because he's not like, fun, and he smells weird all the time, one of the things I look forward to most is coming home to him! I often wonder if he remembers me because he's dumber than a sack of bricks, but there's really no way to tell because he loves everyone just the same. I'm only a little offended...
4. TV
I don't watch it often, but I miss it terribly sometimes. I miss the white noise TV provides while I'm doing homework or something. Also, I miss mindless TV like crazy. "Botched," "Chrisley Knows Best," "Bob's Burgers," and "Modern Family" are my absolute favorite shows in all of the television realm. It's just not the same watching them on my computer, so I usually don't. Sorry Netflix-addicts.
5. Driving
Now if you live in New York or somewhere else very urban, you might not be able to relate to this one, but I love having a car when I get home. I'm from Connecticut, so you basically have to drive everywhere you want to go. Regardless, the freedom that comes with having access to a car again is unmatched. All I really want to do is get coffee, anyway...
6. Taking baths/No Shower Shoes Holla
I think this speaks for its self.
7. Home is where the free laundry is.
So some schools have free laundry; however, mine does not and it's a horrible, horrible thing. No one likes doing laundry in the first place, so having to pay for it is really just an incentive to stretch the life of clothes' cleanliness.
8. $$ Money $$
When I go home, I'm usually able to mooch a few bucks off my dad. This is important because I need money so I can continue to buy things I don't need and go out to eat when I could eat for free/on the meal plan at school. But, #yolo.
So, if you're ever wondering what makes going home so great, now you know. It's important to keep up with current events in your family's life and recognize all of these material things I've mentioned that they provide for you when you go home. Speaking of home, when can I go back?
