As I’ve established multiple times, grocery stores are my favorite places on this planet. The warm atmosphere, the stacks and stacks of products on the shelves, the free tasting samples - just everything about grocery stores warms my heart. Just strolling in a grocery store without any intention of buying anything is in itself therapeutic and relaxing. Because of my complete and utter love for grocery stores, I’ve decided to come up with a comprehensive ranking of some of the most popular ones in the country.
1. Target
For anyone who knows me, Target is my ultimate grocery store, as it is packed with every product imaginable, from bedding to chocolate. The atmosphere is the same in every single one you walk into, making it feel like a second home.

2. Whole Foods
Now, Whole Foods is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it’s also packed with some of the most interesting foods. I know that I’m in for a treat whenever I head to this store, and the green and earth tones always fill me with happiness. Although pricey, it’s worth every penny.
3. Sam’s Club
While Sam’s Club lacks the initial aesthetic that most grocery stores have, it’s high up on my list because of the sheer accessibility and convenience it possesses. Whenever I need to buy my groceries in bulk, Sam’s Club is always there to save the day.
4. H-E-B
H-E-B is special because of the items it sells. There are times when I go to the store and am completely surprised by how many cool H-E-B only products there are on sale. My all-time favorite thing they have is the sushi.
5. Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s has an interesting vibe and is definitely one of the cooler grocery stores out there. It’s fresh and not too complicated, although it certainly tries hard at being the “in” grocery store among the others.
6. Walmart
Now, Walmart is the only exception to my love for grocery stores, as it completely lacks any of the qualities I enjoy in one. The lighting is too bright, the atmosphere is lacking in character, and the organization of it isn’t really my style. While I can appreciate it for the fact that it is a store, it simply does not do them any justice. Sorry Walmart, but your slogan should be “always low quality” (ouch, that feels harsh but I’m gonna keep it there anyway...sorry Walmart).
