Dear Best Friend,

Thank you for being my friend through such a significant time in my life. What started out as a freshman horror story ended as a thriving senior, and I owe it all to you.

Without you by my side, I would not have been able to navigate high school. From the terrifying lunch room to the impossible classes, you helped me steer clear of trouble and find my true friends and passions. Suffering through the insincere friendships and the dramatic relationships were rough, but I made it through because I had you.

Without you by my side, I would not have been able to talk to boys. You’ve helped me through every relationship I’ve been in, or almost been in, and I honestly don’t know where I’d be if you hadn’t been there to coach me. I mean who were the boys really texting, me or you?

Without you by my side, I would not have had my own personal therapist to listen to me complain every day. Whether it was about a godawful teacher or an idiotic boy, you were there to support me and listen to me through the toughest of times. You helped me endure the roller-coaster of emotions that high school was.

Without you by my side, I would not have been able to pass biology. There’s no denying that my lack of scientific intelligence, so thanks helping me pass what was possibly one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Luckily we had the same teacher, so you were able to help me even more than the tutors my mom hired!

Without you by my side, I would never have stepped foot in a gym. Even if it was only for a year, you introduced me to a personal trainer that I would not have otherwise pushed myself to go to. Your fitness has always been an inspiration to me, and I am grateful you attempted to include me in it, even if I quickly gave it up.

Without you by my side, I would not have someone to bake with, like, every day. Under-baked cookies, slutty-brownies, and failed cake-pops are some items we’ll have on our menu when we open our own bakery in the future. Although we probably ingested dangerous amounts of raw eggs, it was definitely worth it.

Without you by my side, I wouldn’t have had a choir buddy. We all know the music department wasn’t necessarily the coolest, but you being there definitely made it better. Although it was probably a mistake having us sit next to each other sophomore year, I’m glad we got to experience at least one season singing the same voice part.

Without you by my side, I wouldn’t have had rides to school junior year. I am so thankful that you got your license almost a year before I was able to, and that you took me everywhere I needed to go.

Thank goodness I had you by my side!

Love always,

Your Best Friend

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
