Sorry to skip Thanksgiving, but this is most definitely important.
1. The Grinch
This movie is so great and always takes me back to when I was little. I love the simple message about spreading the love that is reinforced and how the narrator rhymes everything in the voiceover of the film. It is sure to put you in a good mood.
You can watch the classic original as preparation for the new animated one that is coming out this year! Also, go check out Tyler the Creator's new cover of "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch", safe to say it's pretty amazing. Also, the song, sang by the little girl in Whoville titled, "Where are you Christmas?" is sure to pull at your heartstrings.
2. Frosty the Snowman
This is such a great light-hearted movie to watch. It has such a warm message and it is short enough that you can get excited for Christmas in no time. It's an oldie but a goodie.
3. Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer
This is another classic that will take you back to your childhood. It follows Rudolph as he struggles with his red nose and how it sets him apart from everyone else. Instead of hiding the red nose with shame, he learns to accept what makes him special and in turn is able to teach everyone a valuable lesson in the process.
This movie has some great songs to sing along to like the "Island of Misfit Toys" and many others.
4. The Santa Clause
This is a movie I remember watching every year. It puts a modern twist on Santa Claus, as actor Tim Allen plays a man who is struggling with the duties of becoming the new Santa Claus and his unique relationship with his son. This will help you to remember what it felt like to be a kid and believe in the most magical time of the year.
It that isn't enough of a reason, this movie is a great re-watch because of how hilarious it is and it will keep you laughing with the quick-witted humor that you were sure to miss as a kid.
5. It's A Wonderful Life
Oh my gosh! How do I even describe how great this movie is. I remember watching this with my family every year. I am not emotional during movies at all, but I cry every time I watch this movie, without fail. This movie follows a man named George Bailey as he discovers the joy he has brought to everyone around him and how great life really is.
This movie will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. The acting is outstanding and it truly captures the meaning of gratitude and selflessness. If you haven't seen this movie, you need to. I don't have enough good things to say about it.
I promise you, you will be sobbing at the end, so break out those tissues and you will start to appreciate all the wonderful things that are in your own life.
