While studying for finals this semester or just to pass time, Scrolling through Pinterest was my favorite way to kill the minutes I chose not to put towards studying for finals, let be real we have all been there. I found myself clicking on Christmas cookie ideas or just ways to make your fireplace little more jolly.
Instead of dwelling on how creative other account is, why not join in on the holiday fun? Here are ways to bring the holidays in your very own home. Now don't get me wrong I'm not the most creative person like you see on the home decor channel, but I promise just by adding a bow and a couple of lights will make your holiday season that much more enjoyable.
Knock to reveal a Christmas surprise!
You don't need to put thousands of lights to make your house festive from the outside. A simple bow can really tie your house together and let your neighbors know you're household is very merry this season.
Snowflakes are just for decoration!
For my people who actually experience a white Christmas know that snow is meant for outside, not to be dragged around the house. Most people spend all day slaving around the house to clean for their guest and don't want to spend time picking up their unwanted snow remains left on their floor. Provide a festive rug to A. glam up your front entrance, B. give your guest the option to wipe their shoes before entering or C. get the memo to be courteous and TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES!
Fun tip: If you are one to avoid conflict and do not want to be the shoe police, offer fuzzy Christmas socks as a Christmas gift and the memo to take off your cold wet shoes and slip on some fuzzy warm cozy socks.
Festive and Plush
Besides the beautiful tree, I like to add some decorative pillows to tie my living space together. Usually, when my family comes over for the holidays, we like to gather in the living room talking, playing games, and of course opening gifts. adding Christmas pillows really adds to the mood and brings the Christmas joy wherever you sit to relax. A pop of red really makes difference on any recliner.
Snazzy Stockings
I think sometimes we go overboard with the color scheme of the classic red and green. Know that its ok to add a pop of color or even a couple of rhinestones to your decorations. I like a sparkly stocking above my fireplace. People gather by the fire to warm up after going out in the cold. Others will acknowledge your stockings and really throws your room together. Besides stockings, you can dress up your room with decorative Santa trinkets, snow globes, or lights in any area of your home. Bookshelf, entrainment centers, even the windowsill are all included!
No Fire? No problem!
Just because you don't have a fire, doesn't mean you can have the illusion this season. Even though you might have the fire to warm up by, sit by your TV with a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate and it will feel just as jolly!
Your home doesn't have to look picture perfect to bring the Christmas spirit alive in your home. Spend time with loved ones and enjoy the holiday!
