5 Instagram Worthy Cafes That Are Simply Brew-tiful

10 Instagram-Worthy Cafes In New York That Are Simply Brew-tiful

Here are 10 super Instagram-worthy cafes that will have you "Living La Vida Mocha!"

Now, I love Starbucks as much as the next girl, but nothing quite compares to a quaint little cafe. I actually really want to own one someday (seriously, I have it all planned out). I know this may sound silly, but I truly believe that the greatest expression of love is when someone pours you a cup of coffee in the morning. Whether it be your significant other at home or the barista at your local coffee shop, there is just something so personal about it.

It's something that a 7 a.m. Starbucks run could simply never compare to. These cafes are not only aesthetically pleasing and totally Instagram worthy, but they also provide a wonderfully cozy intimate atmosphere with great drinks that will have you wondering where they've bean all your life.

1. Sip This

I'm sure you'll love this one a latte! This one has to be number one on my list because it is my local coffee shop. If you want to see me in my natural habit drinking a vanilla latte and an extra espresso shot, while studying and playing taboo. You should come down to Sip This.

2. The Witches Brew

This is probably my go to cafe during autumn because of the Gothic decor. I've actually been coming here for years. I guess you could say it's one of my old haunts. ;) If you do end up going to The Witches Brew I definitely recommend getting "October" I like it iced. If you're not already sold, may I also mention that this place is vegan friendly!

3. C&B Cafe

Although the C&B Cafe is better known for their amazing food and creatively written chalkboard sign. This East Village Gem that is right by Tompkins Square Park has great latte art and is home to the the best americano I've had to date.

4. Milk + Honey Cafe

The Milk+Honey Cafe not only shares a name with one of my favorite poetry books, but it also has some great brunch options and chill vibes!

5. Ninth Street Espresso

Still not into espresso without milk that all the purists rave over? Don't worry Ninth Street Espresso will give you their best shot!

6. Devocion

Ahhh...Devocion I'd be lying if I said that all wonderful things didn't reside in Williamsburg and this cappuccino is no exception! You can take the L to get there, but by tasting their cappuccinos you definitely won't be taking the L I can assure you of that! They also have another location in Downtown Brooklyn near the DeKalb Avenue Subway!

7. Cafe 1 Of A Kind

OKAY I HAVE TO SAY IT DON'T KILL ME...this place is one of a kind! Oh come on I had to it was too easy! No, but seriously you need to check out Cafe 1 Of A Kind.

8. Meow Parlour

Ever heard of a Cat Cafe? Well I have two years ago my best friend Alexia who is my favorite person to exist took me to this cat cafe for my birthday, before we went to the pride parade. I got to literally pet kittens, while having an amazing macaroon and drinking great coffee. Meow Parlour does require reservations but it is so worth it!

9. Cafe Bench

Cafe Bench is known for their wide variety of crepes but you'd be missing out on a latte if you didn't try one of their amazing drinks!

10. White Noise Coffee Co.

The White Noise Coffee Co. takes the cake for being super Instagram worthy and in my opinion its because their baristas are truly artists. So stop in for one of their beautifully crafted drinks!

To The Girl Who Hasn't Been Herself Lately

Your spark return, and you will shine like you were meant to.

Life gets tough. Life gets too much to handle sometimes, and those times make you stronger. However, right now, it seems like you have lost yourself.

It’s difficult when you catch yourself not being you. When you do something or act a certain way and just wonder, “what did I do to deserve this? Why is this happening? When will it get better?” The way you’re feeling is not so much that you’re unhappy, you just feel weird.

Your day will come. I promise you. This is just a phase.

The day you realize how much you have grown from this point in time will be your reward. It is so hard to see now, and I feel your pain.

Your light will return to you. Your pure bliss moments, they are seeking you. Your laughter where your tummy aches is in your reach.

Our moods change far too often for us as humans to understand why, but the encounters you make every day have this effect on us.

You must remember the pure happiness you experienced before your first heartbreak, before the first friend became someone you thought they weren’t, before you lost your innocence. That was a time of true joy as you had not a care in the world for the things that would harm you. Better yet, you didn’t have the option to experience them because you were just a child.

The world can be an ugly place, and your attitude towards life can change every day. One thing is for certain: you did not lose who you are internally. We all put on a face for the world. For the people who we try to impress. For the life we want to live. For the things we want to achieve.

Your definitive personality is still in the works. Believe it or not, it always will be. Times like this change us for the better even though we can’t see it.

Your happiness will return. You will be a better, stronger version of you. In fact, you will be the best version of you yet.

Once this phase is over, you will be okay. This I promise you.

The Insider Scoop From Your (Usually) Friendly Starbucks Barista

Yes we love our job; but that doesn't mean it's all fun and giggles.

As much as we may love working at a place where we stay caffeinated for a good majority of the day, it does not mean that there isn't a downside.

1. Worth the competition.

Starbucks has got to be probably one of those places that they take care of their employees so well, that people will actually stay and there is such a tough competition to get in, to begin with. People do not understand just how tough it is to truly get the job. There have been several baristas that I know that have applied for about a year or longer and it took them a while before they even got an interview.

2. Yes, we get free coffee sometimes...

The most popular question that I could receive when people find out I am a barista is... "Do you get free coffee, how often?"

Yes, there are four separate opportunities where our coffee is free: 30 minutes before you clock in and out of work, on your ten-minute break, and during your lunch break. Now that doesn't include when we have taste testing (new roast of coffee that partners take a taste test of).

The free coffee is ONLY when we work. During regular times when we come in as a customer, we receive 30% off our purchase.

3. We are not employees.

Many probably hear us calling each other "partner" rather than employee...why is that?

Well, we are referred to as partners because it feels more of an inclusion and more personal rather than using the term "employee." By using the term "partner" it demonstrates a type of equality between everyone and viewing us as equals.

4. Variety is definitely hired.

I can certainly stand by the statement that Starbucks is the one job that I know I have viewed a vast variety of people. Everyone is different... not everyone is an extrovert as most people tend to think!!!

Starbucks expresses highly to portray your personality within uniform regulations whether it may be through hair color, or pins on your apron, your personality is not hindered but rather encouraged.

5. No...you can't have a discount.

I'm sorry mom, dad, family... great aunt Mary. You can't get a free drink as I am working.

Starbucks is extremely strict with just giving free drinks away because this is a business. That does not mean if we make it wrong we won't make another one. It just means that because I work there I am not permitted to give you a free drink or a discount.

However, when I am done with my shift and I ask for my drink after work, I can get the ONE drink and take it to you.

6. Imagine getting paid to talk?

I am an extrovert! So for me to be encouraged to literally talk to customers and ask them about their life is probably one of the best jobs I can imagine doing. Starbucks encourages CUSTOMER CONNECTION.

Because if we connect so well we later ask "how are the kiddos?" you are going to feel welcomed, wanted and taken care for. You are likely to return to the store because we remembered your drink order or your name and we welcome you as you step foot into the store.

7. We do get tired even if "we are just making drinks."

To be completely honest if you assume that all we do is make coffee and that is completely it?

We do so much more that the public does not see, so much that when I use to be a regular I did not even see myself. There is deep cleaning once a week and cleaning all day consistently and finishing our tasks. Let's not forget to mention the back of the house is sometimes a mess with our load of boxes coming in weekly.

Being a barista is far much more than just making the regular type of drinks, it's about a connection with your customers and being able to maintain a dirty environment at it's finest.

8. My partner became my best friend.

In this type of work environment, you are able to not only just build great work relationships but friendships as well. Friendships are well built to the point where my fellow Starbucks partner became my best friend and I am grateful for that wonderful opportunity.

Working in this type of environment doesn't seem like a job, we constantly have fun and make each other laugh that it makes you want to go to work.
