If you're like me, then you want nothing more than Bernie Sanders to become President of the United States. During this race, we have discovered a lot of things. One thing I'm sure of is that racism most definitely still exists. (Thanks, Donald Trump.) As I started to follow Bernie Sanders, I began to notice something: unity.
People who usually wouldn't be agreeing on the same stuff do, and his supporters don't all look alike. His supporters are one big melting pot, made up of people who truly represent America. He made those who are usually kept silent, feel like they have a voice (myself included.) This is the first election year where I truly am supporting a candidate. In the past, I would watch the debates and agree with some of the things the candidates were saying, but generally, I was just bored. The way Bernie Sanders carries himself, really motivates me to go out and do something.
Bernie Sanders may have truly won. He woke us up to all the corrupt ways of the election process, but we still have a long way to go. A perfect example of this is racism. No matter what anyone says, as I stated in the beginning, racism still does exist. In addition to that, we also have the problem of privilege. Some people think they do not have to work as hard as others to get somewhere in life. An example of this is Hillary "winning" the Democratic Nomination because the scale was tipped to her advantage. For Bernie to have won, he would have had to surpass in voters to correct the voter fraud the that was in place.
Another example of how the electoral process is corrupt is displayed here. Bernie supporters, who had cooperated with the DNC had their seats taken away from them to only be replaced by individuals who were paid $50 to cheer as Hillary spoke. We only found out about this because someone posted it on a Facebook group titled "Long Island For Bernie Sanders." How many more of these incidents have happened without the general public's knowledge? I'm sure a lot more than one.
Although someone else is most likely going to become President, I feel that Bernie Sanders candidacy sparked a political revolution when it comes to millennial voters. Bernie will continue his mission and so the political revolution will continue with his supporters that are numbered in the thousands and even millions.
I know I'll keep supporting him. Will you?
