Sometimes, being a college student leads to having conflicting schedules and finding it hard to find time to work out. There are a lot of benefits to waking up a little bit earlier and hitting the gym before you go about your day-to-day activities! Below are only a few of the benefits of hitting the gym in the morning.
You'll have more energy throughout your day.
Waking up to get the day started isn't alway easy. Usually, for me it involves hitting the snooze button on my alarm one too many times and feeling super sluggish while getting ready to head out the door. By starting your day off with the gym you're giving yourself a natural high. Yep! Endorphins! You will feel energetic afterward and ready to take on what the day throws at you.
Working out first thing in the morning is good for your metabolism.
When you workout, your body doesn't stop burning calories when your sets are done. You keep burning calories throughout the day. Instead of doing your workout several hours before you go to sleep, doing it in the morning will help you burn those calories while you're doing your day-to-day things for a better end result!
Less crowded gym!
A lot of people will hit the gym around 5-7 p.m. because this is when people start to get out of work. There is nothing worse than a crowded gym that leads you to have to make a line while you wait for your preferred exercise equipment. Go early! There are still a lot of morning risers that go at that time but not nearly as many.
You won't have to worry about going after class or after work.
I have been in many situations where I will tell myself that I will hit the gym after work or after school. Usually, this ends with me changing my mind and deciding I would like to catch up on Netflix instead. Working out in the morning gets it out of the way and you have the rest of the day to do whatever you want! It's like tricking your brain into doing something that is good for you before it is fully alert, a win-win.
You will get a better nights' rest.
Working out gives you the energy you didn't know you had. While working at night isn't necessarily bad, you may be trying to sleep while those endorphins are still running through your body. There is nothing worse than being really tired from a long day but your body is still super active on the inside and you can't sleep. By working out in the morning, you won't run into the risk of having to toss and turn at night.
