Although a bit belated, I would like to take a moment out of my time to give a shout out to the father's in my life. In honor of father's day i'd like to give a big thank you to my dad, my father-in-law and my husband. All of you have brought something special into my life and you deserve the world. Since that's physically impossible for me to give you, I'll give you the one thing I can: recognition.

First, to my father. Dad, you stepped up and took in a little girl that wasn't your own. There were times when it probably wasn't the greatest feeling in the world, especially as I got older and started asking questions about my biological father. However, you stuck through it and cared for me as your own. For that, i'm eternally grateful. I also want to thank you for teaching me to cook because we all know Mom can't. Even though it felt like I wasn't picking much of anything up from it, I now can bake an excellent batch of gooey, chocolate chip cookies. I know I can be royally stubborn at times and I probably don't say this enough , but I love you Dad.

Secondly, to my father-in-law. Not My Real Dad, you accepted me into your family and for that i'm forever grateful. You aren't afraid to joke with me and tell me like it is. I never have to tread on eggshells with you. I also appreciate the fact that you "fan-girl" nearly as hard as I do about geeky things. I also appreciate that we have the same sense of humor and that you accept bad puns without a second thought. I also want to thank you for helping mold your son into the man he is today. I'm glad that he had such a great example, so thank you that.

Lastly, to my husband. I can't thank you enough for all of the work you put in with our son. You love him so very much and that shows everyday. Thank you for giving him a good example to grow up with. I'm so thankful for all of the times you woke up to change a dirty diaper and feed him when he was younger. You do such a great job of teaching him the differences between right and wrong. You take care of him when he's sick. I couldn't ask for a better role model for our son. Even during the hard times with the military life, you still manage to show him that you'll always be there for him. Thank you for being an amazing father.

I hope that you all had a wonderful father's day. Know that all of you are appreciated and that you're all loved. Thank you for all being a part of my life and know that you aren't taken for granted. I love all of you, from the bottom of my heart.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
