You're approaching your freshman year. All you can think about is the new friends you'll make, the parties you'll go to, and the cute guys you'll come across. When having fun and making memories, don't forget a few small things to make sure you don't lose your girlfriends and/or you don't wake up the next morning with (too many) regrets.
For starters, never leave a man behind. Man being the group you head out with. If it's just you and your best friend, don't leave her at a bar or party alone unless you know she's safe. Same goes for guys, no one wants to be left alone if they can't even hold themselves up.
Next tip, be mindful of your outfit. Trust me, I know it's fun to be "glammed" out and turn heads when you walk into a room, just make sure you aren't turning them for the wrong reason. Not everyone needs to see where the sun don't shine. Also, if there is a jersey themed party it's OK to wear a big jersey and athletic shorts. I promise you'll have much more fun plus you can just be "one of the guys" for a night.
Tip number three: Check the license plate of the uber car. I can't stress enough how important this is. Even if it's a safe, small, college friendly town, it is still important to make sure you are getting in the right car.
Don't do something against your morals just to impress a group of girls or guys. If they don't respect your choices or feelings, then maybe they aren't the right group to hang around. College is fun and a great time to try new things, as long as they don't put you in harm's way or with a large amount of regret.
My first two years of college hold some of my favorite memories. Mistakes and regrets are bound to happen, what's important is not letting the same one happen twice. Keep watch of your girlfriends or guy friends and never stop smiling.
Get ready for the best years of your life!
