So you had a bad day (go ahead, sing the song, get it out of your system). But seriously, we all have them. You feel like it's just one thing after another coming at you. Like someone out there is just testing you to see how far you can stretch. It sucks.
We all have sucky days. We all have great days. We all have been told that everything is going to be OK, but you wanna know the truth? Sometimes, it takes a long time for us to get to that OK. We may not just have a bad day, we might have a bad week, a bad month, some people have a bad year. That's OK. Wanna know why? We are all human. We all have emotions. We all get let down. It's a sad but true fact about us, we're not always okay.
In society, you're told if you're not happy, you're wrong. If you don't always have a smile on your face, then people don't want to be around you. They don't make it any easier on those of us that are struggling, and that in itself is another issue.
I'm here to tell you, I have bad days. I've had such bad days that I can barely make it to my car without crying. I sit in bed and procrastinate and eat cookie dough instead of what I should be doing. I get angry. I fight with the people I love. One thing I do know is, that's okay. I'm human. People still love me regardless of whether I'm happy or not. The important people in my life show me that their love is unconditional and that's all that really matters.
It seems like we don't always hear this, and sometimes we need it. It's OK if we aren't OK. Bad days are normal. Listening to sad songs when we're sad isn't great, but it's OK to do it sometimes. As long as you keep going, it's OK.
People love you. You matter. It's going to get better, maybe not immediately, but it will. But for now, it's OK to not be OK.
