As Humans, We Are Put To The Test Every Day

As individuals, we are expected to do great things even with the obstacles we face in life.

As humans, we experience a lot of tragedy and hurt in our lives or we are put under conditions we don't always want. Yet, we are pushed to do great things, to be successful, despite the odds that are against us.

If you stand in a crowd of people, many have lost a loved one or relative. Whether it was in a car accident, suicide or murder. In that crowd, there are women that have had miscarriages or lost their child at a young age. Countless people have mourned over the loss of a loved one. In that crowd, there could be people who were/are poor or some people who have had to salvage for their next meal. Some may be out of a job, some may be living on the streets. There are people in that crowd on welfare or people who have lost their belongings in fires. Some of them could be injured in an accident. The list of tragedies that we go through as humans is a large list and are something we all face.

With all of that, there are people in that crowd with illnesses or diseases who did not choose to have that destiny. Some of those illnesses being anxiety, depression, bipolar, the list goes on. People fighting all sorts of cancers. There are heart diseases, breathing disorders and brain conditions. I could go on. As people, we do not choose or wish to have these illnesses, diseases, or conditions impacting or lives. Lots of them have an impact on our everyday lives and that's something we have to power through.

Even if you have an illness or you've lost a loved one or your family is poor, you are expected to be successful in some aspect. Despite the odds that are put against us, we are all expected to go to school. High school is a very rememberable time in most peoples' lives, but a lot of times the burdens that weigh on our lives can have an interference with that. Some of us are expected to go to college. College is an amazing experience, but the work that goes into graduating can be hard and stressful; especially if you have an illness or a condition that puts on that added pressure. At some point, we're all expected to enter the workforce so we can make money and provide for ourselves. Finding a job can be hard and sometimes the tragedies that life brings you can make doing your job a little harder.

Just like everyone else, I've had tragedies come up in my life. I've lost loved ones, I've dealt with an illness for a major part of my life, I've had to go out and find a job. I'm currently in college getting an education, trying to better myself and if I've learned anything thus far, it's that being a human is hard. We are expected to do all of these amazing things from the time we are born and it sounds easy saying it, but it's harder actually doing it. When this thing called life kicks in, you're expected to keep doing great things, but still dealing with all the added stresses, tragedies, and burdens that come with it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
