We're definitely not your average girl.

What It's Like Being A Girl And Loving Sports

Growing up I've always loved sports. Every Sunday I had my Eli Manning jersey on or I had some sort of Yankee paraphernalia on. As I got older I traded in my baseball jerseys for hockey jerseys but my love for sports never changed. Being a girl and loving sports means having a completely different life style than every other girl my age. Take everything you know about girls and throw it away because this is what its like being a girl and loving sports.

1. We don't really know how to hold a small talk conversation that doesn't revolve around sports.

I can't tell you whats going on with the Kardashian's or Selena Gomez but I can tell you how many goals Alex Ovechkin, Patrick Kane and Steven Stamkos have scored... that's close right?

2. We're incredibly moody.

If our team loses, it hurts. If our team wins, we're ecstatic. During a game our mood can go from extremely happy to I want to throw myself off a cliff in about five seconds. Our happiness rely's on our team and if they're a mess in the game, we will be a mess watching.

3. We love our teams more than most people.

We refuse to talk to people who support the teams we hate or our rival teams. Being a Capitals fan in New York means I live in the wrong place in one of the biggest rivalries in hockey. The only Ranger fans I talk to are my parents and my sister because I'm forced to.

4. We don't like a players just because of their looks.

If you tell a girl that loves sports she only likes her favorite player because of his looks we will name every single reason why we love that player. If you tell me I like T.J. Oshie or Patrick Kane because they're hot, you have another thing coming for you.

5. We will always put up a fight especially at games.

If you try and chirp about our team at a game we will get in your face because no one talks about our boys like that. We will not take anything bad about our team especially from 50 year old men whose team sucks and their clearly intoxicated. I am notorious for getting into heated arguments at games.

Being a girl and loving sports is quite different than being a normal girl. I care more about my team than most things every other should care about. I own more jerseys and hats than I do dresses. We get asked if we can talk about things other than sports but its a lot harder than you think. We'd rather go to games and watch our teams than going out with the girls. We're more proud of our team than we are of ourselves. Watching sports isn't just a pastime for us, its a lifestyle and we're okay with that.

Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
