I'm a conservative who hates Donald Trump, and although many people like to disagree, there's many of us out there.
Yes, we exist!
Actually, there's probably more of us than there are "Republican Trump Supporters." Why do I say that? Well, it's simple really. Trump stands for the ugly side of the Republican world—a part that I do not identify with. A part that doesn't even seem to understand what it means to be a true conservative.
I like to think of myself as a classic conservative. I believe in a smaller government, private ownership, self-reliance and individualism (among other things). I truly believe America was once the greatest country in the world, and I wish it still was considered that. In Trump's world, however, the wonder of America is dying into a reality show that other countries mock instead of respect. Why have we let this happen?
This isn't OK. It's not right for people to misjudge me and other old-fashioned conservatives because of the joke Trump and other (as I like to call them) "Modern Fake Republicans" have made us out to seem in politics. There are still some good conservative Republicans left in the world that really do only want whats best for this country.
It's easy to see the ugly side of Trump's "Republican" following. Honestly, most of the people who support this man probably don't even understand politics. Not trying to shame, I'm just saying. Of course, some do understand politics, and some are less evil than others, but it's important not to lump every Republican into this group of men that are currently running our country. It's damaging to those of us who do care and do want better for this country. There are still some of us fighting for a better world. I want everyone to see that side of conservatives.
I will continue to be proud of my ideology and I will also strive for a better reputation for conservative Republicans because we are not all as bad as we seem to the media and a select few powerful people.
Keep that in mind next time you talk down to me because of my views.
