It's mid-May and the summer is so close yet so far away. You long for the day when you can walk outside and not be angry at the sun for coming up. You're literally drowning in a sea of coffee and scantrons.
You've made it through finals!!!! They were terrible, but you're alive! Cue the "Summer Hits of the '90s" Pandora station and roll down your windows, because it is time for SUMMER. "These next two months will be the best of my life!" you tell yourself. You start planning trips with your friends and endlessly talk about the shenanigans you'll get into. Then this happens:
The next thing you know, it's June 13th and you're two seasons into "Scandal." You keep saying you'll meet up with sisters in your area, but you realize there are none. You click play in order to soothe your soul.
You've just finished scrolling through Insta for the millionth time today and you stumble upon the cutest picture of your sister throwing what she knows in front of the most beautiful sunset ever. Literal tears.
"Oh, I wonder if any of my sisters were able to go to bonaroo?"
Yes. They're there and you're on the couch. It's fine. (Proceeds to make a flower crown and Snapchat your festival-loving-sister as if you're there in essence.) She accepts your weirdness because lovable trumps popular, am I right?
You get a call from your neighbor who says she needs you to babysit. Your mind immediately thinks of the $20 and the possible trip to your college town in order to meet up with someone, anyone from your chapter. You sort of regret this as soon as you realize your neighbors kid is the same one who put a frog in your mailbox two weeks ago.
Your car is having issues and you're unable to make it to see your friends. Once again.....literal tears.
So, instead, you take that $20 from earlier and buy your weight in pizza. Character before appearances. Character before appearances.
TODAY IS THE DAY. JULY 20TH AND YOU'RE PACKED UP TO GO BACK TO THE BEST CAMPUS IN THE SOUTH.
(Speeds as fast as, well, "humanly" possible.)
You walk into chapter and it's just the most glorious thing you've ever experienced.
You get a group pic of your squad and post it to Insta. It's been up for five minutes and you only have 10 likes. You confide in the group text and they all say it's just because everyone's jealous. You smile and savor the fact that summer is over and sisterhood is back.
