Just this month I got the opportunity to travel to Portland, Oregon with my best friend.
The air is fresh. Everything that surrounds you is green. The coffee is indescribably good. Lastly, the weather is perfect for someone like me. Slightly rainy and chilly. Constantly. Growing up in the Sooner State.. I always jumped at the opportunity to go to the West Coast. This place is like a dream.
Have you ever visited a place where you immediately felt at home? You just fit right in? A place that just makes you smile thinking about? That's Portland for me.
Some of my Portland experiences included...
Visiting the Bridge of The Gods, a large bridge that crosses the Columbia River. When you start driving over the bridge you are technically in Oregon but once you get across the bridge you're in the Washington state.
So technically I visited two states at once.. how cool!
We walked around a Washington Park.. which was filled with an array of tall tall trees (that you can't see in Oklahoma) and the most beautiful scenic trails.
Toured the streets of Downtown Portland.. 2 of the 6 days we were there.
There was so much diversity and culture surrounding the town.. we also rode our first Portland tram (train). Very interesting experience!
Went to Canon Beach in Oregon, shopped around seaside and visited Astoria.
Celebrated my Best Friend's 21st!
At "Taste" in Downtown Portland. Happy Birthday Syd!
Visited "Powell's City of Books" at Burnside... and when the title says "City of Books" there's no exaggeration. The BIGGEST bookstore I've ever seen. So if you're a nerd like me.. this place is Heaaavveeennn!
The pictures don't even do it justice.. I think I ended up shoving 3 books into my carry on.
And lastly.. I got two new tattoos!!!
I never want to stop traveling and I never want to stop seeing the world.
I initially lost my job going on this trip.. but Portland was SO worth it to say the least. I got to travel with my best friend and make some of the most wonderful memories at a place I might one day call home. #KeepPortlandWeird
