Life started a little differently than most for me. Instead of going straight to college after high school, I ended up later marrying my high school sweetheart, working, having a child, then deciding it was time to find what I wanted to do with my education. So after some thinking, I decided to enroll in an online university to get my degree since I'm a stay at home mom, and it has its ups and downs.
Deciding to become a full-time online student as well as a full-time stay at home mom is a big choice.
On top of the already exhausting job of being a mom as well as taking care of a house, we add college courses and late nights to the mix. It's not easy, especially online schooling, because it requires finding those rare alone, quiet times to study and get school work done.
It's putting your child to bed to stay up late crying and reviewing a lesson over and over again because you can't just seem to get it. Being a student as well as a mom and wife is stressful. It's having to worry about all the everyday things such as cleaning, bills, and grocery shopping as well as due dates, grades, and exams.
Sometimes it gets overwhelming, where all you want to do is give up. The exhaustion and frustration take over and it becomes impossible to see why you started this journey in the first place.
It becomes important to remember that those late nights, loads of caffeine, and tons of tears will pay off in more ways than one. It's getting you one step closer to a degree you want, a career you dream of, and a future for your family.
