On the 23rd of April the Trendsetters at the U held their first annual Spring Fashion Show, held on the Oval on the University of Montana. From the audience, it seems like we just had our hair and makeup done, sported some fancy clothes, and then strutted to whatever music was blaring through the speakers; however, it takes so much more work than that!

Preparation for an event of this caliber takes place months in advance. Even the day of takes a huge amount of work to make the final product perfect! Let's take a look at the behind-the-scenes action of the Trendsetters' show.

8:20 a.m. -- Arrival

This was the hardest part for most of us--while we normally wake up early for school, we all couldn't sleep the night before out of nervousness and excitement! Thank goodness for coffee and good friends to make the morning bearable.

8:50 a.m. -- First Run Through

It was pouring down rain, we were all in leggings and sweats, and it was too early to function. However, we trekked our way to the Oval, turned on the portable speaker, and walked through the show in the rain. Happy Saturday!

9:30 a.m. -- Hair

#ThisIsntMyRealHair #IWish #Extensions

The lovely Ka'au and Aukai arrived and started immediately on our hair. Everybody received a variation of the same style--extensions and massive amounts of hairspray included. It felt fancy and important and uncomfortable; but exciting at the same time!

12:00 p.m -- Makeup

After our hair was up and set, it was time to get the makeup started! We were crunched for time, so we helped our lovely makeup artist out by putting on some foundation and other basics beforehand, so he just had to do the finishing details!

2:00 p.m -- Set-Up

#ChairsForDays #StillRaining

We had chairs rented out for the day, and they were dropped off at the area, but we had to do all of the set-up and preparations. It was a little difficult to maneuver in the rain, with our hair and makeup already done! But in order to pull something like this off takes a lot of work.

3:00 p.m. -- Final Preparations

#DreamCloset #GetInMyCloset #IWish

Okay, help arrived, and all we had to do was make sure the tables and that the PA System would be able to be plugged in properly--and that it didn't get rained on, of course. Our ME arrived to rehearse the script, and final touches were made on hair and makeup. After dressing in our first outfits, we anxiously awaited the start of the show.

3:30 p.m. -- Show Time!

#Flawless #YouCanSitWithUs #Fashion

The audience was seated, waiting patiently in the rain, and the models were all in place for the show to begin. The music started, and the first model made her way down the runway. After several quick (and I mean quick) changes, fumbling with tags, hair getting caught in jewelry and zippers, and making sure we didn't trip on the uneven brick path that was our runway--the show was over.

Finally, it was done. The social media posting schedule, the model sign-ups, the boutique collaborations, pastry plans falling though, and the budget stress all culminated in a wonderful show. Not even the rain could stop the Trendsetters from shining during the show!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
