Beginning Of A Farewell

It's time to move on from Odyssey.

I have been writing for Odyssey Online a little over a year now. I have written numerous articles about college, Greek life, and even politics. I have found that this platform has been a great outlet for me to voice my opinions and thoughts all from the comforts of home. For that, I will be forever grateful.

However, as time goes on, I have come to the realization that writing my articles now has been somewhat of a chore. Don't get me wrong, I love writing and writing about things that matter to me, but my passion for it has run dry. Maybe it's because classes have just started up again and I'm getting increasingly busy, or maybe it's just my innate laziness kicking in. Whatever the reason, it's time that I moved on from Odyssey.

My year with Odyssey has taught me a few very important things. Firstly, if you see something wrong in the world, speak up and don't be silent. Yes, an injustice may be happening to you, your family, friends, or even strangers. But, no one will know it is an injustice if there is no one to speak up about it. Change begins with a conversation, and conversations begin with you.

Secondly, some people may not listen to what you have to say and that's okay. There are a lot of ignorant people out there in the world, and I can do my best to get them to change their minds, but it's very difficult. Don't worry about those people who seem to be set in one mindset, because those people don't even matter. The ones that matter is the ones who are willing to listen and are able to see the flaws within themselves.

Lastly, things may not work out the way you want them to, and that is okay. Life goes on and you can choose to sit around and mope about a small setback, or you can get up the next day and power through. If I had everything I wanted by now, I would by living in a two-story mansion with a Mercedes-Benz in parked in the driveway with a private beach just steps away. Obviously, that hasn't happened so I'll just to settle for being a broke college student for the time being.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing for this site, and I wish the best of luck to my fellow writers who are just starting out, or who are veterans to this site. I still have one more week before my official send off, so I guess this is just the start of my goodbye. Until that week comes, goodbye for now.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
