Why I Want To Become A Teacher

Since the first day of pre-school to the last day of high school I always admired the thought of being a teacher. When I was in elementary school, teachers were like super heroes who knew everything about anything. They always made school fun and taught us so many wonderful new things. Since I was a young student, I always wanted to become a teacher as most of my other classmates did. What made me different was that as I grew up, my future career never changed. There are so many reasons why you should become an educator, but these are mine.

To start, I was the student who loved being at school. I loved learning, I loved writing, I loved the projects, and sometimes I even liked studying as I grew older. I actually hated missing school, even when I was high school. The thought of missing something important or being the slightest bit behind on any assignment freaked me out. I’ll admit it: I was a nerd.

I want to become a teacher because to me being teacher is more than someone who gets in front of a class 7-8 times a day and teaches and grades homework. I believe that teachers play vital roles in a child’s life. Teachers are the foundation of learning life-long skills and success. Teachers may not get the recognition that they deserve, but without them, no one would be able to accomplish anything. All other professions would cease to exist.

I want to be able to inspire and motivate students to be their best. Teachers play such a huge role in a child’s life just as some of my teachers have done for me. I think that is what has driven me all these years to become a teacher. Because of their good efforts, I want to pay it forward in my own classroom. A teacher has the direct ability to change a student’s life. A child spends a good amount of their lives in school and come from all different ways of life. We have the ability to change a child’s life without even knowing it. That is why I want to become a teacher.

To me teaching isn’t a job; it’s a life. Teaching is such a powerful, calling, and rewarding job. Another aspect of teaching that I love is that I will always be learning along the way as the students do. Maybe that is why I have always been drawn to teaching. I love to learn and then to teach or tell what I have learned on to someone else. I have always been that way.

I want to become a teacher because there is nothing else that I have ever seen myself doing besides it. Being able to inspire kids and become more than just an authority figure, but role model to them. Words can not always describe why I want to be a teacher--it is something I feel inside.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
