Just because you're not in camo, doesn't mean you aren't brave.

Let Freedom Ring This July Fourth

Ah, yes. Fourth of July. The time of year for family and friends get-togethers, BBQ's, pool parties, patriotic desserts, flag-patterned outfits, and fireworks. What better way is there to celebrate our freedom? Celebrating our nation's bravery.

Celebrating our armed forces. Celebrating the strong souls of those participating in Pride Month, or even build the courage to come out to their loved ones. Celebrating the people who are not afraid to stand up for others and/or what they believe in. Celebrating those who dare to try something new, regardless of success or failure. There's no doubt the list can go on and on, as we all had to be brave in our own way at some point throughout our lifetime.

Our nation as a whole is diverse with culture, races, ethnicities, political standpoints, and gender identities. However, I will not fail to mention the numerous cases when ignorance, lack of acceptance or understanding, and violence were involved with these controversial topics. But the beauty of our freedom does not come from any of the negatives. The true beauty of our freedom comes from the fact that this country is empowered by the people. Every day there are people striving for equality, justice, and peace in their own way. It's starting to make sense why the United States of America is also known as "The Home of the Brave."

I am fully aware of the controversies or questions this post may provoke, there is no doubt that our existence as a whole was a result of the brave souls that came before us to give us the kinds of freedom we have today. Not only was our independence gained from a larger power, but we are well on our way to gain the freedom as an independent, an individual. And for that I am grateful. Grateful to be in a country who has started to embrace that it is okay to be different, defy social stigmas, with the help of social media, entertainment, and role models. I hope by continuing to instill the courage in the newer generations to come, the legacy of this country's freedom will live on as well.

Whether it is to party and dance the night away, go out with family to watch the fireworks at night, or stay in with some movies and popcorn, by doing all of these activities we are also celebrating our freedom to spend that kind of time on this holiday. Enjoy and Happy Independence Day!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
