It was Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2016. I was at work stocking a health and beauty aisle, with items being stocked ranging from shampoos and lotions to cosmetics and beauty products. The sun was shining brightly, with clouds sparsely mixed in the wonderful and gorgeous blue sky. As my shift at work progressed, I continued to complete my mundane tasks of putting items on shelves and pegs up and down this aisle. Then out of nowhere, I noticed a beautiful blonde wearing a stunning sundress walk in through the front door of the store. I will be completely honest; I was stunned at how beautiful she was. Now, I had a funny feeling in the back of my mind that she was eventually going to come strolling down through my aisle. In fact, a few minutes after pondering that thought, here came this gorgeous, long-haired blonde down my aisle, looking at cosmetics and other beauty products.

So I decided to make my move and grab a beauty box from the boat I was working on and approach her while stocking nail polish remover. Earlier in the day, I had dropped boxes throughout the aisle and tucked them tightly against the bottom shelf lines to stock them later in the day. Now, my eyes were clearly on this woman, and my thoughts were wrapped around on what exactly to say to woo her. I began to make my approach smoothly up the aisle with the box of nail polish remover opened and ready to be stocked on the top shelf right next to her. My heart was beating faster by the second, and I thought to myself, "What’s the worst that could happen?"

As I got ready to say my first word, my feet stumbled and I tripped over an obtuse box of shower curtain liners. In essence, I face-planted straight to the floor with this beautiful woman looking squarely at me. In that moment, my mind quickly transitioned and the next words that popped out of my mouth were:

“See, I am falling for you!”

I glanced back at her as she smiled and laughed hard, as if she had just heard the best pick-up line of her life. For a moment, I thought to myself, "She’s so going to say yes!"

Then, out of nowhere, she continued laughing but turned around and walked away. For the next few minutes, I was lying on the ground at a retail store, contemplating life as I came to terms with the fact that I had just completely butchered my approach to wooing a beautiful girl out for a date.
