8 Post-vacation Feelings We All Know Too Well

I LOVE vacation. The idea of getting away to somewhere new or your old favorite place for a few days is so exciting. A lot of people just consider the beach a place to go, but a vacation can be anything you make it. Even if you go to a town in your state that you've never been, you're still technically on vacation.

The hardest part of any trip is coming home of course. Packing your bags and souvenirs and thinking about the sad plane/car ride home is depressing and signifies your transition back into the real world. Whether you love coming home, hate it, or are indifferent, I can guarantee you've definitely felt one of these eight things after your trip is over.

Sadness.

Giphy

It's five in the morning, the muggy grey sky of your hometown is greeting you, and you can kiss the sunshine and tan lines goodbye. The tears in your eyes come naturally because you can't believe an entire vacation came and went. Now your fun is over and your wallet is empty.

Relief.

Giphy

This one is for all the people like me. You're relieved for no other reason besides for the fact that your choice of transportation made it to its destination. Your plane successfully touched land, your cruise ship docked where it was supposed to, your car didn't blow up, and your train didn't derail. Bonus points if you drink a shot for every time you said "We're gonna die" out of pure (unnecessary) fear.

Stress.

Giphy

You just got home, put your keys on the counter and realized YOU HAVE AN EIGHT A.M. SHIFT. YOUR HOMEWORK WAS DUE LAST NIGHT AT 11:59. Now you're stressed and running around trying to clean, do laundry, remember how to school, and prepare yourself for a long day.

Tired.

Giphy

This one is the worst if you came from a time-zone difference. Your schedule is out of whack, you get hungry at one in the morning, and you can't sleep when you're supposed to. Before you know it, you're up religiously at four in the morning and asleep at 7 P.M. It takes a whole week of sleep to recover from a few days vacation.

Sick.

Giphy

If you go on vacation and don't get sick, tell me all of your secrets. I cannot come back from any trip without at least a cold. The airplanes are full of germs, the hotels are full of germs, the germs are full of germs. You always feel like you're on your deathbed the first few days back from your trip.

Happy.

Giphy

If this is you, can't relate. The only reason I'm relatively happy to come home from vacation is because I missed my family, friends, boyfriend, or pets. Other than that, I think I'll have to remain #1 on this list for a while.

Hungry.

Giphy

It's dinner time. You look in your fridge/freezer, go through your cupboards, and then realize you're not on vacation anymore, so the food sucks. Your body is used to a strict three (or more) meals a day of hearty, well-cooked, awesome foods and drinks per day at specific times of the day. There is no blueberry passionfruit cheesecake in your fridge or surf and turf dinner in your oven. Now you're hangry and disappointed.

Hopeful

Giphy

This is what you feel after you're home and everything is settled in. You're ready to plan the next vacation and hopeful that you can get it to happen sooner than later. Keep hoping, saving money, and get ready to be on the next plane to your destination soon enough!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
