In A World Of Darkness, Be The Light

Be a positive light shining through the negativity of the world we live in.

We live in such a chaotic world and it is almost impossible to find something positive in it. The darkness of the world we live in can be overwhelming at times and seemingly never-ending. We live in a world where the news only talks of negativity, no one can get along with anyone, and no one can agree on a middle ground; why not try to be a change to that and shed some light on the darkness.

In the world of darkness and negativity that we live in, be the light. Be the person that people see and their day gets better. Be the person that smiles a contagious smile and spreads happiness. Be the person who tries to do at least one thing each day to shine a light. Find something positive that is now a rare sight and do it; whether it is smiling at a stranger, holding the door for a stranger, paying it forward, doing community service, encouraging others, whatever it is, be the light. Something as simple as a smile can change someone's whole day.

If you can spare a few bucks, buy a stranger's food or coffee in the drive-thru; there is nothing more exciting than having someone do that for you. Holding the door for a stranger may not seem like a big gesture, but it does a lot for someone who has had a bad day; even if they don't say thank you, you still did something nice for someone else. Community service will always be a huge good deed because you are affecting a whole community of people and that is something that will be forever thanked. Encouraging those around you is one of the easiest things you can do; it can be something as simple as "I hope you have a good day today" or "You are a great person". Encouragement doesn't have to be anything elaborate, but just something to make someone's day better.

I guarantee that each person you affect will not only have a better day but will also pass along the same behaviors. Being a light is like a chain reaction; when one person does it, more people tend to do it as well.

Be the light, smile a lot, do positive things, and make a difference for the greater good!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
